I like your picture a lot and can easily see what drew you to this scene. I decided to play around with it a bit but am not sure if it's something you would like. Tried to create a more tranquil mood by toning down the greens, cropping in tighter on the man and tree and "pruning" a few leaves and tree branches. Dodging and burning was used to help direct the eyes to the seated man and from there out to the hillside where he is looking. I also really like how Marge added the warm, golden tones. This is a great picture with many editing possibilities, I really like it and think you did a great job! I think this image says a lot and am guessing your family will appreciate having it no matter how you decide to edit it. |

Art, of all your images using this technique, this is my favorite! Your camera movement creates a lot of visual energy, excitement and brilliant color. My eyes go straight to the couple in the center and then the other people and various details. To me the only thing I would do is remove the light pole because it seems a little distracting and don't think it adds any value. A great image! |

Kurtis, I love your picture, the colors, sharpness and energy conveyed by the jockeys and their horses. You did a get job editing it and I also think the way Art cropped and handled the background gives you another good option to consider. A wonderful picture!! |

Kurtis, yes, Art is right about which is the original. I do like your high key approach, to me it makes the picture brighter and still emphasizes the angels. And also, thanks for squaring up the corners, I missed that.🙠Thank you for your kind words, it was fun to play around in post processing and do something a little different. |

Art, you are correct the original and edited picture are reversed. Since the photo topic and title is Angles, initially this was converted to B & W. Then I found a grunge filter in Nik to emphasize the angles on the walls and also added a yellowish filter. But did not flip it horizontally. To bad, thank you for doing so since I really like the way the stair rails lead the eyes left to right.
As a side note, Tony Sweet, a professional photographer, recently gave a presentation and critique of images from members of my photography club. I bet he mentioned seven or eight times how important it is for us to flip our images because often times they will look better! Could not help but think how often you do this in your critiques, and it can make a difference. |
