Marge, I love seeing the silhouettes against the beautiful golden colors of the sun. This is a great composition and would look lovely hanging on the wall! |

Hi Marge, thanks for sharing your thoughts about this image. This was taken mid-day in bright, reflecting sunshine and yes, probably using a polarizing filter would have been better. I do like the way you edited it though adding more contrast in the water and on the dolphins. Thank you! |

Kurtis, I love seeing the lovely night time colors in the city and the greens and blues of Union Station add so much. I think your post editing adds a lot more interest; the buildings are more structured or sharpen and outlined in black. Personally, your dark sky adds a nice touch of drama although I would prefer to see it cropped a little closer to the tall buildings. A great picture, I really like it! |

Art, the microphone in this image got my attention at first glance. I think you did a beautiful job capturing its circular shape and expanding this motion to the outer edges. Plus, the colors are very nice. A great job! |

Gabriele, I like this image a lot and do not have any editing suggestions. The colors are lovely and the reddish-yellow in the sky at the horizon line plus the cleared path draws my eye into your composition. This shot was is worth getting up early, very nice! |

Thank you Art, the story or what makes this image mean a lot to me is that I was told it is rare to have a small pod of dolphins follow this closely behind a boat. I'm guessing this is a maternal/nursery pod with the protector in the background. I appreciate you working with this to give it more "life". As in Gabriele's edit, the dolphins and their movement through the water stands out more. Years ago, when I edited this (picture attached), I also liked it better in a tighter crop. Thank you for sharing your thoughts! And, should anyone be interested, here are two links about these dolphins.

Gabriele, I agree with you, this image is lacking color, the dolphins blend in with their surroundings. I decided to submit this particular image is because I wanted everyone's thoughts on how to make it more interesting. I do like the increase contrast, dodge and burning you did, it makes the dolphins stand out more. Am wondering if this image would benefit if a Topaz preset, such as Simplify BuzSim, is used? This is how it was edited a few years ago. What do you think? Thank you for sharing your thoughts! |
