Marge, a beautiful Great Blue Heron, it looks like a stature! Nice details in the feathering, and I like the blurred the background. I decided to play around with it some. Basic editing in Camera Raw/PS. Then using Nik's Color Efex Pro 4, I added a clarity bump filter plus Brilliance/Warmth. To accent the colors in the feathers more, luminosity dodging and burning was done in PS and then cropped with an image border added. A great picture! |

Kurtis, you photographed such an interesting subject, love the curves and details in the tree and the bird is perfect! I do feel the color of the sky and grasses compete with each other and detract from your great subject so I decided to play around with it. Using your original, basic editing was done in PS/Camera Raw plus the grass in the foreground was desaturated some, tree branch was cloned out and the imaged cropped. Next using PS, the sky was added and with Nik's Color Efex Pro 4, Tonal Contrast, Darken/Lighten Center and Brilliance/Warmth filters were used to give it a different look. Hope you like it. |

Gabriele,I like the composition of this photo. Multiple horizonal lines along with the curvature mountain slopes leading in from the left, all mixed in with white clouds on the surface. Personally though, I agree with Art's observation and find the blue and cyan tones a bit heavy and I prefer this in a softer light with sweeping white clouds. (Art's example) This being said, it is your image and how you saw it, that is the most important thing, a great job!
