Gabriele, seeing your picture of the Monastery of Santa Chiara brought back wonderful memories of our visit to Naples a few years ago. When walking through this area with my husband, I could not take my eyes (or camera) off of these gorgeous columns and benches. I was wondering though how it would look if the orangey color of the wet bricks was toned down a bit and the beautiful colors on the columns made a little brighter. So, I decided to give it a try using Photoshop. Used Camera Raw/Color Mixer to tone down the walkway and brighten the colors of the columns a bit. Then the dodge tool on the wall at the end of the walkway to help lead the eyes there. Your picture is wonderful! |

Marge, such a beautiful image and wonderful way to relive happy memories. I really like the soft background colors plus the subtle shadows on the parakeet. As mentioned, it is always desirable to see a bird's eye(s) and head. For fun, I made a few subtle changes in Photoshop - dodge and saturation tool around the eye and beak. |

Kurtis, the details in your flower are wonderful and having the bees there make it more interesting. The only small suggestion I have is to tone down the colors in the background on the left side. They seem a little bright and are competing with the lovely flower. I think it is a great picture and I love the flower! |

Art, I really like the composition in your photo plus the colors and reflections of the bridge, flowers and trees. The only thing that bothers me visually is the large boulder in the foreground. I was wondering how your picture would look if this rock disappeared and the white clouds became a little softer. By using Photoshop, I came up another "look". I cropped out some of the bottom and right side, added some reflection where the rock was and then used the dodge and burn tools. Just a different way of seeing a beautiful image! |

Regine, I like the sharp details and subtle color of the hummingbird along with the backlighting. I agree with Kurtis though that it would have been nice to see a little movement around the wings. For the background, I was curious to see how it would look if parts of it were either deleted or desaturated, so I decided to give it a try. Another thought I had would be to remove the background (except for the red flower) and add a nice texture to emphasize the hummer more. What a great capture Regine, a beautiful picture! |
