Oh, I see. Thanks for explaining that. As you can see, the technical side of photography is not my strong point.
Well, in my opinion, your owl is competition ready! Congratulations. |

Hi Jim. What an interesting subject! Made for photography!
I'd be interested to now how you post-processed this image?
Can you give us a few more details?

My opinion? .... stunning.
Love the DOF, sharp eyes and placement of the subject in the frame. I can detect a slight bit of noise on the feathers, if I really look hard for something to improve.
Congratulations Abdo, a beautiful image that you can be proud of. |

Ahhh, can't resist a challenge like that Jason!
It is a lovely bucolic scene.
I thought it might be easier to manage in B&W?
I converted it using Gradient map in Photoshop. Then I played with it in NIK Detail extractor. It brought out the calf a little more and enhanced the lovely textures in the grass.
I also cropped it to eliminate the sunburst through the tree. |

This is a really interesting image Terry. So much to look at. I like the crop. It accentuates the reflected figure beautifully.
Only suggestion I would have is have a look at the vertical lines (edge of the mirror on the left and the line in the glass sheet on the right). Perhaps a little tilt to the left before the crop? |

This is a very striking image Sunil. You made a great choice converting it to B&W and eliminating the second figure at the top of the frame.
I understand why you cropped out the water. I would have too. I was first attracted to your original due to the long shadows.
I wonder, if you tried a square crop to cut out the water on the right and keep all the rest?
You might also like to try converting the image to a much harsher black and white, perhaps using Photoshop-Image/Adjustments/Gradient map? |

I also agree that it looks fantastic in monochrome. The contrast contributes positively to the mood of this shot.
I find that the image appears to tilt slightly to the right?
My eye felt that the vertical walls on each side of the river appeared to be tilted a little.
I tried an edit. I used the straighten tool and followed the shadow on the water under the bridge as a guide.
