Just back from a trip...apologies for the delay. I think the red is more of a distraction in the final image and not relevant mostly because it is out of focus. I prefer your original image as then I see the red is a tulip, so it has a relationship with the yellow tulips. There's more story in the original...the lone red tulip amongst the field of yellow. Perhaps a metaphor for how we can be the same, but also diverse. With regard to the colors...to me they are all great...nature's bounty :-) |

Angela, I like this as an exploration of texture and form...very well done. With regard to other elements, I agree with Shirley's comments. |

Shirley, this is a delight! The gradations in color, form and texture are a visual tour de force. If I only had this syrup in my kitchen... :-) |

Fred, this is an excellent exploration of concept and technique...so many variables, so many choices...what a fun journey you are showing us. Great! Bravo! |

Bob, I really, really like what you've accomplished with the yellow tulip. I am distracted by the red tulip and out of focus right side of the image. I agree with Sam that toning the red down a bit might help, or even cropping the right side a bit. Very nice! |

Sam, I like the saturation and red monochrome because of the extra impact that they give to the image...very powerful emphatic statement about a hard life. The image 'rocks'! |

Angela, thanks for your comments, I'm not fully happy with the texture I used, and I am looking for a texture that is more in line with artist papers used in watercolor images. |

Sam, The blue cast is interesting. I've attached histograms comparing the total image with just the bottom half. This supports your observation. The foreground was under cloud cover which could explain the effect. I'll try filtering the color temp for that region of the image, along with working on the haloing Fred and Angela commented on. |

Thanks for your feedback, Fred! I had another HDR image for another group that showed some haloing as well. Interesting observation about the clouds being a factor. I'm still a novice at this technique, so that phenomenon is on by study list. |

Great shot, Bob! Only comment is that some of the highlights on the head, base of the neck and shoulder might still have some detail. Perhaps a local adjustment of -1/2 stop would bring that out. In any case I'd like that one on my wall :-)! |

Howard, I think you have met one of the most critical qualifications for a wildlife photographer...being prepared and getting the shot when the unexpected and unique event occurs...Bravo! Classic! |

Peter, I'm not familiar with the Topaz tool Lee Ann used, but it did bring much of the sharpness back. Given that, I felt the image was a little flat. I decreased the Topaz image exposure a half a stop, and bumped the contrast up a wee bit. With some background editing, I think this is a very good capture! |

Lee Ann, I love the subject and your composition, it's Great! And I agree with Howard on the distractions. Besides the large number of objects, the variety of colors on the various fishing gear are also distracting to my eye. So, if you don't mind, here's an edit that follows the notion of simplification: Principle subject - old boat - use a light vignette to eliminate or mute secondary objects. Multiple colors - convert to B&W. This may be too radical a departure from your original intention, for which I apologize, and I also thank you for sharing your image. |

Wonderful detail and exposure on the buildings and Space Needle. I agree with the other comments as well. As a Washingtonian, the Seattle skyline from many angles is a delight. Very nice! |

Thanks Peter, I'm still a novice at HDR. There are many variables and easy to overdo...learning from the Greek philosophers that moderation is the best path. |
