Thanks Howard! Yes, wish I could. I had no idea what I had in the background when I took the shot. It was one of those try it and see what I could do in post. Since I'm doing extreme (for me) editing, maybe I can blur the water surface. |

Helen, you have a wonderful ability to capture pattern, color and detail. Beautiful image that really transports one to the source! |

Capturing motion in a still image is something I need more skill in. I'm interested in your approach as there is some intriguing 'brush like' strokes in the water, but not so much in the trees. I'm wondering what a much longer exposure would produce in terms of blur and sense of motion. Would our group entertain dedicating one month to experiments in capturing motion? |

Peter, there are lots of interesting textures and shapes in this image: the shingles, window frames. railing along the eaves. The 'character' of these elements speak to the charm of older seaside buildings as contrasted with the metallic brightly painted more modern chairs. Having lived in New England and the Pacific NW, I prefer the antiquity to the modern. I like this image as it really gives me a sense of place and good memories. |

This image has a big impact on me. Even though the scene is still and serene, my senses are flooded with the beautiful and energizing light. The image is truly stunning to me when enlarged. Cropping the boats out might further enhance this feeling. 5 Stars :-) |

Peter, what an image! Besides the excellent technical and artistic quality there is a fascinating contrast (dialectic) between the mystical and the very sharp fine detail. The 'story' of that contrast might be expressed as 'who can imagine that something so soft as that waterfall could carve rock so dramatically.'
Cheers! |
