37 Sep 20 Reply Yes, the shutter speed. I was expecting a flight of Snow Geese at the time. I shoot in manual mode and had preset the higher shutter speed for that possibility. A good example of planning for one condition and having another pop up :-) Sep 19th
37 Sep 20 Comment Cropping the extraneous car out is an excellent move. Things either add or detract from an image, don't they? And to the great benefit of the image you've also cropped out the extraneous colors as well. Very cool. That really heightens the interest in the window frame which to me has a storyline, age (represented by the somewhat sagging and decrepit frame) counterpoised against the aliveness and beauty of the roses.
Definitely a rich and likable image.

37 Sep 20 Comment The level of detail, sharpness and tonal balance really bring out the interplay of sky, trees and water. I'm really drawn to the complexity of those relationships. A suggestion that there is too much of the sky at the top of the image and the foreground grass takes away from the power of the water/tree interaction. Perhaps some top and bottom cropping would raise the impact. Very nice image!! Sep 19th
37 Sep 20 Comment You've captured something extraordinary from an ordinary subject, the last remains of a dinner. The light remaining in the glass and background after such a meal perhaps is the 'glow' we feel from such an experience. The shallow depth of field adds to that by softening the feeling I get. An excellent bit of storytelling! Sep 19th
37 Sep 20 Comment A very impactful image. I especially like the composition, the 'river' of humanity flowing down the bank of the river between pillars of fire. The red monochrome adds to the power of the image as well.

One suggestion would be to crop off the blue building lights at the top.

37 Sep 20 Comment The best Puffin photo I've seen! Excellent technical quality and lighting/composition. Additionally, the texture of the water surface adds an ethereal dimension, a counterbalance to the dynamics of the Puffin. Bravo! Sep 19th
