Definitely worth the effort you took in placing yourself directly under - and well done for think of doing so. The shadows in the outer circle that so enhance the cornicing (?) come through really well.
My instinct though would be to spin the image a little so that the outer circles are NSEW - just my brain perhaps.

79 May 23 Comment I heard it first in the Shakin Stevens version in '81 - so more like 40 years for me :-)
Fun and inventive image, gate-keeper is especially eye-catching. I wonder if the blank wall might be asking for a themed piece of wall paper - or a poster or two?

As an Englishman, I love puns but I am not sure how many viewers will identify the connection between an askew image and a second "plane".
I would suggest that the tool has sufficient interest (especially shape) in itself to pay tribute to its former owner. One idea might be to escape into B&W (I love the NiK silver Efex pro) and then to add color back with merging layers. This was my take - not to suggest you replicate it but rather to exemplify another possible direction now that you have already rejected your first.

79 May 23 Comment Freddie, a well captured action shot: I admire particularly the muscle definition on the two men (I mean your capture of it - though I suppose also their gym work). I am not sure about the color. I understand that it is what was used on stage, but I am not sure that it conveys menace in the still shot.
The below is a suggestion: abandoning the constraint of "reality", I went to B&W (with a slight tint), eliminates the "extras" and use a very close crop that I think adds distress to the central figure.

79 May 23 Comment I wanted to respond with a slight push back - not to contradict, but rather to explain the intent. For me, this is an animal in squaller. She live is in a pigsty, her underside is covered in dirt, the food bowl is mucky, there is a little ball of excrement in the straw on the left and yes there is a visible backside off to the right.
And yet, she has a radiant smile and the look of nobility. I see this as the triumph of spirit over circumstance.

99 May 23 Reply The location was indeed "old-fashioned craftsmen": it is a weaving school that specializes in tracking down and restoring old barn looms. May 14th
99 May 23 Comment Kathleen - good shot of a groups providing plenty of interest within their interactions (or lack of). I like the ferment of the water, adds to the sense of apprehension that some display.
I have two small suggestions: I would have left a little more height since I think the men on the right are too close to the top; and I wonder if the tone you used is an enhancement, I think that cyan might convey an appropriate sense of cold.

99 May 23 Comment Michael - I was immediately intrigued by the center which looked like a black balloon ready to launch: so yes, mystery achieved.
The stone textures are wonderfully diverse and well captured, I am seeing erosion as well as lichen growth, and this conveys the age of the structure so well.
My one suggestion is that I would have cropped loser because for me the break to the side arches diminishes the focus on the centre.

99 May 23 Comment Linda - great shot. The definition of her features and skin are bang on, and I particularly like the naturalness of the pose. You removed the bag straps without error (not easy I am sure). Only suggestion is that her right arm and the wall are very close in tone and I might have used the unique color in the upper wall to adjust its brightness during conversion to provide more differentiation. 99 May 23 Comment Peter for me ... I do not like the models. Probably very nice people but what they project is disquieting enough that I am left with a negative impression. The technique itself is of your usual high standard but I wonder if the models could have been used/posed differently. May 14th
99 May 23 Comment Barbara, I love the invention and I think the image came out crisp and sharp. The interplay on the top strut (?) of the back is particularly effective with the uprights of each image hitting the center of the curved wood: I think this interplay is the dominant feature in the composition. For me the framing was well chosen. May 14th
99 May 23 Reply or ... "a mallet by any other name would hurt a much" - but that would be Shakespeare down at the dark side of the East End.
