That is certainly interesting - I had never thought to adjust the image to enhance a story. Something to add to the next. |

Yes, I see what you mean - I don't think the image loses anything in that crop (apart from what distracted you). |

Zolt - great subject and clarity - the sunlight seems to me to bring wonderful color both to the buildings and clouds.
It seem to me that you went for the silhouette on the front buildings, however I think there is a lot useful information lurking in them that could be extracted in post-processing.
I apologize if I went too far from your intent, I really hope you do not mind - but ...
I played with the shadows and highlights before going into color Eflex Pro to mess with the tonal contrast - and finally cropped to place the sunlit buildings on the center and the Chrysler build on the line of thirds. |

This is for me a beautiful image wit great clarity and tonal range. The reflections are attractive in that they are slightly puzzling - but not too much to distract. The scene makes me want to journey there.
I think the crop could be improved since you have a specific border on the right side composed of (less than?) half a tree; I would use the tree on the left to provided the same (since I do not feel that the whole tree is important to the image). |

Robert - For me your new image is a thing of beauty. I have tried to understand the discussion. What draws me to your image is the color and the tiers and (sorry Larry) the central pool which is a tranquility of subtle shades. Perhaps I am being too literal - but if there is a question of flow, I suggest that the location is all about flow and that this exists in your crop.
Myself - I would cut deeper - perhaps to emphasize that water flow even more by placing it more directly upon the diagonal. A very small change - not even clearly better in my own estimation - just a suggestion. |

Emily - lovely location. I see such clarity from the foreground into the middle ground that I am surprised that you achieved this with and f stop of only 8. There is a lot of nice detail for my eyes in the rocks and plant, and the horseshoe paths frame the line of the central hill as it leads into the distance.
If I had been processing this image I would have eliminated most of the shadow and the sky - since they both seem to me to lack information and so to distract from the complexity of the center. |

Dale - I like the subject especially the small craft isolated in the sea: it hints at coming danger. At first I wondered if there was too much space on the left - however I realized that the cloud was your central theme and so I wondered if they might be elevated. This is my photoshopping with dehaze and dodging (and I sacrificed the trees into silhouette).
Perhaps this is too much manipulation for your taste? |
