Hi Erin, congratulations on your image in the Showcase, loverly image well deserved featuring.
This image, the pose and expression, shows the thoughts and planning in preparation for the shot. Technically a good shot, blurred background with the athlete in sharp focus. A loverly environmental portrait, thanks for sharing. |

Thank you Erin, looks like the consensus is the branches need to go. |

Hi Greg, thanks for the input
Definitely need to adjust the tone in the sky around the bird.
I do agree with you on the branches, as I mentioned to Kare, I thought they were part of the environment and it just looks empty without them and shows why he was flaring out to scoot across them. In hindsight I would probably remove the small branch on the left.
Now I do totally agree with Karen, that if I was to enter this into a contest I would remove them as that the first thing a judge would comment on.
Thanks for the input |

Hi Karen, thank you for that, definitely need to adjust the tone in the sky around the bird.
I have (internally) debated the lower branches, with the other trunk, top left, I thought they were part of the environment and it just looks empty without them and shows why he was flaring out to scoot across them. In hindsight I would probably remove the small branch on the left.
Now I do totally agree with you, that if I was to enter this into a contest I would remove them as that the first thing a judge would comment on.
Thanks for considering and the input

Hi Darcy, well seen.
The subtle yellow wash giving a summery feel to the scene with the main subject framed by the branches enhances the image. The tonal range is handled well, seemingly a natural gradient.
To me the image appears very soft focus.
Nice image |

Ok I'm impressed, a bit different to our kitchen window.
Clarity and detail in the foreground is handled very well, with the eye being drawn to the Elk looking straight at the camera.
Perhaps the background could be blurred fractionally to bring more attention to the subject. Great opportunity for the shot. |

Hi Greg, very well handled resurrection of this image (and indeed the cathedral itself) the soft focus looks works well together with the brighter sections to the darker tones draws the viewer in. As a suggestion consider a part vignette only on the top left of the image, to further draw the viewer in.
From what I have seen on TV the restored cathedral looks amazing,
Thanks for sharing the image and reigniting the memories |

Hi Kamal,
Nice image showing workers in agriculture environment, the geometric pattern and the mix of pattern 9cropped to uncropped fields0 adds to the enjoyment of the image. Colour and detail handled well. Nice image thanks for sharing |

Hi Karen.
I do like this image, the subject looking directly at the camera lens immediately draws the viewer in. The slight glint light in the eye enhances the view. The detail in the hair just juxtaposed against the very blurred background adds to the attractiveness of the image.
Positioning of the subject coming out from behind the tree together with that smile adds a degree of mischief to the scene.
Absolutely nothing I can add to improve this image, again beautiful image well capture |
