Hi Kamal, I do like your cropped version. A lot less busy,
I still wanted to feature the boats and Vivid festival, not make it about the Opera house. So following your suggestion I cropped in similar to yours but a bit wider. Thanks for those suggestions really helped |

Hi Karen, thank you for the suggestions, definitely improves the image, with the panorama idea working well. The red and blue lights belong to a police boat that is overseeing the water activities, which seems like a good job to have on the night. |

Thank you Ingrid, yep the bright white spot in the lower image has to go, I question my mindset when I decided to include it |

That works well in my view. the sky is improved and the strength is in the centre around the bridge scape. Nice process |

Thank you Darcy I did debate with myself on that very bright spot on the lower right, as it was part of the Vivid display I decided to leave it in, in hindsight the wrong decision. Thanks for pointing that out |

Hi Kamal. A very moving image and my first response was that of anger, that we can treat animals this way. As such your image has definitely raised a response from this viewer. I do agree with Darcy that more emphasis could be put on the area of the chain and the leg.
Thanks for sharing

Hi Darcy.
Pretty flower and plant. You have done extremely well to separate the main plant from the background, including all the hairs along the stem, and while I'm not a fan of the black-and-white background conversion, now that you have the mask set and the main subject isolated, (I assume you're in photoshop) you could easily put any background that you like in there, perhaps a background from another one of your images on the day or even from your archive, blur that image to your liking as well, there is also the option to put a gradient layer as a background again whatever choice you make. Again excellent separation of the main plant from the background in your masking. |

Hi Greg, well-captured image with the motion and action in the rodeo horse displayed well when in comparison to the stationary rider in the background. Hard to have clean backgrounds in these sorts of circumstances but you have done a good job in reducing the background distracting elements. The main element the bucking horse and the rider stand out well and draws the eye immediately to those players. It appears to me as if you have applied a painterly effect to the image and as that is your artistic intent I will accept it as it is, and as it does not appear to be applied to the main elements it does in my view help draw the viewer's attention to the bucking horse rider. Thanks for sharing |

Hi Karen, a great strategy to wait, as I understand it (only from what I've read,) most great nature shots are taken by the photographer waiting in position.
You seem to have the focus in the right spot with this dragonfly, on the eyes and the body with the fine hairs standing out very well, a bit picky but perhaps it would have been a little bit better to use a different aperture, perhaps F8, to get sharpness in both the outer and close wings. Background in my view has been handled really well. Great capture thanks for sharing |

Hi Ingrid.
Again Im quite impressed with your ability to spot things prepare the camera and take a beautiful shot all while travelling at speed.
Fascinating image however on my screen it seems a bit flat. Might I suggest selecting the area behind the bridge and lowering the brightness of that a degree or two, or putting a gradient on the foreground to background. This will give the foreground in front of the bridge a much brighter area to draw the eye and separate the two areas of the image and depth. Not sure if you have cropped the image, it would be, in my view, better to have the bridge a bit further off-centre.
It is a lovely green area and as you say how well the greens up after a bit of rain.
