15 May 21 Comment Thank you, Rick! I am so glad if the "peace and quiet" comes through. That was just the feeling I was after! May 30th
15 May 21 Comment Thank you, Joan! I'll repeate the exercise with this year's crop! May 25th
15 May 21 Comment Thanks, Billy, you are probably right with the saturation. I have several versions, but got so enchanted with the deep greens, that it made me choose the most saturated one. I think that the tighter crop further enhances the issue? May 19th
15 May 21 Comment Hi Joan! A beautiful image. I could spend hours just looking at the shades and tones of the translucent petals. The yellow background is perfect. - I watched one of the YouTube videos to really understand how you made it. This really is a new art form. May 11th
15 May 21 Comment Hi Linda, what interesting architecture! This is a fine study of lines and forms in different shades of blue. I think that there are many options of cropping the image, there are so many intreresting details. I think that one option might be a little tighter crop that would leave out the smallest triangle shapes and maybe make it simpler? What do you think? May 11th
15 May 21 Comment Hi Billy! A fine image! I think that you have done a great job with the filter, the water looks so silky smooth. I have been trying to learn to use the ND filter myself, I'll copy your settings next time. I like the composition, too! The little bush draws the eye to the center of the image. You might think about removing the little twigs at the bottom edge and on the right side of the rock in the middle, and maybe also the little bright rock in the lower left corner? May 11th
15 May 21 Comment Hi Jeri! You have such a great eye for the flowers! I agree with Linda about the vignette, I think that the white petals shine so beautifully in the original. Just an idea: you might also try to crop it to a square just round the interesting center part. That would make almost an abstract macro-type image. What do you think? May 11th
15 May 21 Reply Thanks Linda, I think that you may be right - a tighter crop would work better. How do you like this version? It loses some of the feeling that the flowers lie sheltered in a nest, but on the whole it works better?

15 May 21 Comment Hi Rick! She is so beautiful and serene! I think that the uniform deep blue sky is a perfect background for her, too. I tried to see if it would be possible to bring her beautiful eye out even better. I tried a local mask in Capture One 21, lightening the blacks and the shadows, turning up the whites and the highlights, and adding a little brightness, clarity, structure and saturation. What do you think? - I like the frame a lot, too. May 9th

47 May 21 Comment Thanks Adrian, I suspect that It may be the other way round! May 24th
47 May 21 Comment Thanks, Jen! I am glad if it works. I have been testing different tones, but have been coming back to this one! May 12th
47 May 21 Reply Thanks, Albert! I am glad if the water looks ok, I was so annoyed that I could not get it smooth and silky with a longer exposure. I will continue to experiment with the toning. May 11th
47 May 21 Comment Hi Adrian, I love the image, too. You have captured a perfect moment. The expression and posture of the driver show his complete absorption to his task, and the steam really gives the mood for the image. I think that ColinÂs edits look great. May 11th
47 May 21 Reply Thanks, Colin! I will work on that! May 11th
47 May 21 Comment Thanks, Ed! The tail is definitely better in its new position! I think that the change has surprisingly much effect on the composition, helping to draw the eye to the center of the image. I will move it right away! May 11th
47 May 21 Comment Hi Jen! A wonderful image! There is an atmosphere of old Wild West, and the empty road that leads into the image is just waiting for a lonely rider to appear. The tones and graphic-like structure of the mountains are so beautiful. I think that it would also work as a more panorama-like image, with some of the foreground cropped off? That would leave only the most interesting part of the scenery with the vegetation in the foreground. - What film simulation did you use in the Fuji for this fine graphic-like effect?

47 May 21 Comment Hi Albert! You have captured a preciously intensive moment. The players are totally concentrated in the game, and their body language indeed tells the story. I feel that the crop may be a little tight at the upper edge? What do you think about the original crop? There is this unfortunate wheel of the parked car, but it could be made less conspicuous by reducing local contrast and brightness, and maybe adding a slight vignette (if manipulation is ok)? I think it might look more balanced, and you would get the rule of thirds, too? May 10th
47 May 21 Comment Hi Ed! A wonderful image! I think that the blue tone is perfect for this one. It brings out the structure and the glistening wet surface of the ice, and the sense of cold. The division of the background between the light blue and the black areas works very well and adds to the dynamic sense. - I see an ice dancer stepping carefully from the frozen blue world into the dark, with a droplet of water on the tip of his toe, where he starts to melt away. May 10th
47 May 21 Comment Colin, another lovely portrait! The dog looks straight to the heart of the viewer, and his ownerÂs expression and posture are full of affection and tenderness. I think that the composition - the tight triangle formed by the man, the dog and their possessions - shows that they belong together and have all they need in the world. I would think of removing the bit of the light seam in the darker area at the right edge as it may attract the eye?
- Congratulations on the success of "The Fighter"!

47 May 21 Comment Hi Vinod! The Buddhas must have been an impressive sight! I think that the composition gives an impression of an endless procession. The shallow depth of field contributes to the effect and gives them a fine mystical quality. I love the raised hand of the foremost idol who seems to make contact with the viewer. I would think of darkening the small bright area in the lower left corner and maybe also the areas close to the lower half of the right edge? I wonder how the image would look like with just slightly less contrast? Would that diminish the wonderful shiny highlights? May 10th
