Thanks, Bob, I know... I am presently doing the online courses that demand rather disciplined work, so I have shared with you here the wilder experiments, based much on a trial-and-error-type approach, and it is very valuable to learn what works for the viewer and what does not - and what maybe could be done. I think this is such a wonderful forum! |

Thanks, Jeri! I love your analysis of the atmosphere! The house has been much on my mind, and I would like to capture the visions it holds in a way that they could preferably be mediated also to others. I have a lot of pictures to work with, and may pester you with other attempts in the future... |

Jeri, the background story makes this extra special! I like the sharp white car as sort of a center point from which the silvery pods flow outwards (or the center of a flower with mirror petals). I think that it would certainly work fine also if the car were blurred, becoming more psychedelic.
I happened to I look at it on iPad that was turned 90 degrees so that the dark line was at the bottom, and that was quite cool, too, like a ground the flower grows from. You might try to flip it and see what such a version looks like? |

Jeri, this is spectacular! Can you tell more about how this was taken (and the new skin)? I warmly join to the recommendations of Luminar, I am sure you would love it, too! |

Rick, what a spectuclar rainbow! I wonder if it were possible to enhance the blues and greens a little bit? |

Bob, another strong and beautiful picture! I love the colors, too, and the sense of depth and dimension are huge. I have just completed the Landscape lesson of the digital photography course, and this has all the elements. |

Joan, this is so ethereally beautiful and three-dimensional, like floating in the air. The background in the Group 21 version is wonderful, but I like the purity and simplicity of this one, too. A photo like this is worth all the effort! |

Bos, thanks for putting so much thought into this one! I like the second version better, too. Have to confess that I kind of like the black effect myself although I understand that it is probably all wrong... I Will try to bring up something nicer next month! |

Hi Bob! First, thank you so much for your advice with cropping "The Shaman", I learned today that it was accepted in the National Exhibition (they selected 300 out of 1500 candidates, so I feel quite happy!)
About the present picture, I know that it is a difficult one. I am probably biased by the emotions associated with the shooting situation and cannot see that it it does not open to others the same way. What I have in mind is a dark inside of a haunted house with cold colors and just a hint of furnishings, and the broken glass between the sane real world with warm colors. I think that it can also be looked at as abstract, with the rectangles and triangles with different colors coming out from the black background
The forest is not thoroughly sharp (cannot be with many layers of branches and f/11), and actually there is one disturbing darker fir branch on the right.I made another version: (1) cloned off the branch .(2) Made the forest clearly blurred (the Mystical filter in Luminar + some Glow), (3) tried to make the idea of escape clearer by adding a hint of swirl on the window. Now it has a wild twist that gives it some impact? What do you think?
I will attach the new version and the original again. |
