96 Apr 22 Comment Hi Bob
I have come back to your image several times and I think I like it just the way you originally posted it. I don't think the cliffs looked composited at all. they tend to take my eye away from the subject though. I personally prefer the image without the composite. I think if you put it in with a collection and gave it an appropriate name the viewer would know what it was. The image does portray power very well for me.

96 Apr 22 Comment Hi Haru
I really love this location and wish I could visit it too. Your colors are wonderful and the fall has the perfect amount of softening of the water flow.

While the swirling leaves is a really interesting look I find that it becomes the subject of the image and my eye stays there and does not wander the image.

I find the same effect with the leaves in the original but it is not so strong and my eye will go to above to the waterfall then my eye travels to the right side of the waterfall then down to the rocks and back to the leaves.

My personal preference would be to remove the leaves in the water. I attached a quick attempt so you can compare. My eye would then begin with the left side of the waterfall travel to the right side of the waterfall, down to the rocky foreground and back to the tree with the fall colors and the waterfall again. Your eye does not get stuck in any one place and continues to explore the image.

96 Apr 22 Comment Hi Haru
I think I understand exactly what you are describing. I think it would require a wider angle lens than I currently have for my Fujifilm 100s camera. I have seriously been thinking of getting their 23mm lens. This image was taken with the 32-64 lens at 32 mm on a platypod(I attached an image) right on the ice. I couldn't go much lower. I could have gone with portrait orientation and think I would have gotten closer to what you are suggesting but I think I would have needed an even wider lens for the full effect. I will try that in the future. Interestingly I have been reading about wide angle lens composition similar to what you are suggesting. I think it would have provided more depth. Thanks for the suggestion I think you might be right.

96 Apr 22 Reply Sorry Paul. Sometimes I don't explain things very well. I should have called it a Radial Gradient. In Light room or camera raw they can be quite useful to enhance certain areas. Here is a screen shot of the radial gradient I used on the mountain. I increased the exposure 1.4 added +19 in texture, +37 in clarity and +16 in dehaze. I just play around until I find something I like. I am not sure it is exactly what I would end up with if I were working on the RAW image, and I did not take a lot of time on this one I was just trying to give Bob an idea of what I meant. Apr 2nd
96 Apr 22 Comment Hi Bob
I have been to this location and I think you did the best you could for composition. If I remember correctly moving to the right just puts the trees in the way of the view. I agree with Haru that it looks blown out in the water and is probably due to the time of day. I think the image would benefit from having some areas emphasized while de-emphasizing other areas. This would create more drama. I have attached my attempt. Darkening areas like the tree on the bottom right, entire left side and the sky brings the eye to the center of the image. Then using the radial circle to add areas that are brighter like the outcropping of the rocks on the left, the Mountain and the trees in the back left draw the eye through the image. This also adds complexity to the light to make the image more dramatic and interesting.
