Nice. So much texture, the stone, the wood, the sky. Agreed that it works well in B&W, less interesting in the original. Agree on much else that has been said. Good conversion. |

I love the lines in the water!
Cropping works. the original is "meh" - but the B&W! Wow! |

Emil,
I have four words: Alfred Stieglitz, cloud studies.
Love the clouds. Don't need the landscape in this particular instance (that's me).
Your edit really enhances the clouds and makes them the star of the show. |

Coming late to the party . . . October, thus far, has been a challenge. Getting better now though.
LuAnn, interesting image, to me, the interest is in what you named the photo "Woman by River." To that end, I would suggest cropping out some of the foreground and the bush, and allowing the photo to be the woman by the river. |

Oliver, just a thought that your original image was also monochrome. I very much think the crop works, I had trouble finding the frog in the original, love the sleepy frog, and the gentle wave of the leaf. The texture in the leaves as well and having in focus only that which needs to be in focus. Okay, so overall, well done, kudos, cheers, great image! I can't suggest anything I think would make it better. |

Emil, I was unaware of the day-to-night ability but confess I do not use photoshop. I can barely limp along in lightroom. I like the way the lettering stands out in your rendition, and the idea of imagining a light source - the sky was flat and no shadows when I was there. You've added some drama that I feel was missing from my version. Thanks! |

Thanks, Oliver, subtle but effective differences. I agree that decreasing the light/white in the trees in the background helps keep those areas from being quite as distracting. I will play around with that some, as I think I was not quite content with my original edit. Funny how sometimes when you see one's images onscreen they look a bit different than expected. |
