Israel,
having read through the comments (I'm envious of the trip to Scotland, but am not a fan of beer or scotch) I don't think I saw any mention of what immediately captured my eye and seems to go with the title of Man's architecture and nature's architecture - and that is, that the spaces between the bridge piers are filled with land forms that echo the shapes in the bridge, especially in the center. To me that is the focus of the image. Well seen. |

P.S. forgot to say, seeing the image at a larger size just reinforced my initial reaction, totally reminds me of Van Gogh. |

Bob,
when I first pulled up the group page and saw the thumbnails, my reaction to your image was, "this looks like Van Gogh's Starry Night." Don't know that I could pay a great compliment. The driftwood was already pretty abstract, but you've taken it over the finish line. Great image! I would also add, I wouldn't worry a bit about PS being beyond your capabilities, you seem to have Topaz nailed! |

Hi, Bunny,
nothing new to add here, I agree with all of the above comments - and great seeing the potential of this scene. Those new iPhone cameras seem amazing. |

Emil, thanks for the feedback - and for the edit. I agree, the use of light helps lift the image and make it more interesting. I will give it a try. Still dipping my toes into the whole editing thing, and I get the basics, but I don't always see what might make an image pop. Much appreciated. |

Emil,
not much new to add to what the others have said - but I do want to say congrats on your foray into architectural photography. It is one of my favorites, so I always appreciate seeing someone else's work. It is a great choice for B&W. I had to process the meaning of IR and am not quite sure about it's impact on the photo (or perhaps how it might look different if it was not infrared). Something I've wanted to experiment with, IR, but haven't got there yet. Well seen, and thanks for sharing. |

LuAnn,
coming late to the comments, not much new to add, but I would reiterate that it's a great choice of subject, and does work well in B&W. I agree about the cropping and composition. I also prefer the renditions where the bars of the gate are less white or less highlighted. Well seen, thanks for sharing. |

Pete,
I agree with LuAnn's comment that my first thought was that this was a portrait of an old woman. Pretty amazing what PS can do. I can't really comment on the PS work either, I agree with Bob, not my skill set. My final thought/comment is that I find this a bit discomfiting. |
