I'd be curious to see it if/when you do! |

Israel,
I've been experimenting with capturing glass, and it is very challenging, I think. Congrats on this effort, well done. As others have noted, the smoke is very effective, and one can almost smell it (thankfully not really, though - not too fond of the smell of cigars). I agree that is leaning to the left a bit, which is a bit disorienting but also easily fixed. Otherwise not much to add to what the others have said. |

Bob,
this is very creative and magical, and to be frank, breathtaking. It is also very abstract (I had no idea it was driftwood until seeing the original). I am very fond of abstract, so that's not a bad thing for me! I had never heard of Liquid Lines, looks like it could be fun to play with and would work well with the right image. Thanks so much for sharing this inspiring image. |

Bunny,
very nice capture, and the editing works for me as well. Not much else to add. Thanks for sharing. |

Emil, this is an amazing image - so ethereal and capturing the mystic quality of the desert. That's my first impression, and my second, and my third. The B&W conversion/editing really enhances those qualities. I guess I wouldn't have known it was sand (but what else could it be, I suppose, in a desert?) but I am not sure it matters to me as a viewer that much.
By the way, I totally get chasing the storm. I'm more of the school of, who wouldn't?
Very nice, thanks for sharing. |

Oliver,
I like the way you have edited this photo to bring the emphasis on the figure and deemphasize the other elements. Not an original comment, I see, from the thread, but I concur it makes the photo. I like your post-processing rule - I need to "wait a day" more often.
I'm not a post-processing guru - for me the joy is in being behind the camera, not the computer - but I wonder, and I believe at the same time, that it would be possible to edit the color version to create a similar effect. Nonetheless, it is very effective in black and white. More of a wonder than anything. |

LuAnn,
this image captured my eye in the thumbnails, it is very dramatic. I love those happy accidents, as you have described with this image. To me that is part of the magic that keeps me behind the camera. |

Oooohhh cool. I like that, too. Definitely more sinister. Fun. It's come a long way from the image as rediscovered in my archives! Thanks, Oliver! |

Thanks, Emil, for getting in the spirit and enhancing the menace inherent in the image. I was just chatting with a colleague about straight lines in photos earlier today - sometimes, crooked lines work! I think the crop is also helpful to focus on the dark places. |
