Thanks, LuAnn, the photozine idea sounds interesting, and something I might like to do. I am always looking for ways to celebrate and share my photos, and this sounds like a good fit. I also appreciate the encouragement. |

Thank you, Stephen, for the info on Struth and the link to the New Yorker article - I look forward to reading that. Thanks also for finding the "other" alley photo and sharing the info. Alleys - the same and yet different. |

Israel, very interesting image and the first thing I want to know is, where were you? Seems like you must have been in the boat and therefore also in motion, so, I can understand that capturing a sharp image was a huge challenge. I echo the suggestions above, but want to add that the water spray looks absolutely amazing. Nicely done! |

Bob, fall is my favorite time of year and I love the fall colors, so I don't think it would occur to me to render a fall landscape into black and white. I do like the end product you have achieved, it has an almost abstract, ethereal quality. I agree that it also has an IR quality. |

LuAnn, my caveat is that I am not a fan of vast landscapes, they are just not my thing, but I really like this image. It doesn't have that empty feeling many landscapes do (to me). I prefer your original submittal (the largest version above). To my eye, the noise lends a painterly look to the image that appeals to me. I don't find it flat at all. I don't do landscapes (no surprise after previous comments) so have no technical input on how to capture, but I do like the image as presented. Thanks for sharing. |

Oliver, excellent portrait, great face, I can see why you were compelled to stop to capture the image. I prefer it in black and white (or monochrome), as I think it helps to emphasize the textures without distraction. The only suggestion I might make is to crop in even a bit more to focus more on the face and reduce some of the background. I'll try a crop and if I like it I'll post it. Well seen! |

Emil, I love, love, love this image. an ordinary, everyday, mundane scene made special and unique. The gas station seems to float in the darkness. I agree, removing the lights in the background help isolate the station. I also appreciate that the look was achieved mainly in camera. I, too, have no suggestions for improvement. Great image! |

Thanks, Stephen, for me it has a touch of melancholy. I do find the emptiness compelling (obviously, I guess). I hadn't heard of Thomas Struth, he has some very nice photos. Thanks for sharing that name. |

Thanks, Emil, I appreciate the suggestion. I can see from your edit that lightening the pavement does help. |
