62 Aug 20 Reply Like the idea of a zoom meeting to see this in action, if you're willing. I can't quite envision what you're describing, seeing a demo might help. It's an interesting technique. Aug 17th
62 Aug 20 Reply Thanks, Gary,
I appreciate the feedback. I do have an interest in abstract and/or simpler images. I agree, my crop is too tight - I like Oliver's better, and may play with that a bit more, as I like the idea of the darker vignette, too.

62 Aug 20 Reply Thanks, Oliver,
I think you may have nailed it. My own edit doesn't work for me, hasn't worked for me - it sort of looks like (artificial) grill marks on a steak.

62 Aug 20 Comment Gary, very nice image, and I agree with the consensus that i works well in black and white and in color. I confess, the three stumps on the left don't create a distraction for me and I'm not sure I like the edited version omitting them quite as well. I think partly this is because odd numbers are more pleasing to they eye than even, and even though there are two stumps together they read as one element. I love the ocean, and you have captured the serenity of it here. Thanks. Aug 8th
62 Aug 20 Comment Emil, not too much to add, but it's interesting to me how a B&W image of a sunflower can allow the viewer to see the flower in a totally different way, concentrating on the textures without being "distracted" by the colors. The sky in B&W is much more dramatic, and I agree with LuAnn's observation about blending a bit in the lower right. I would be curious to see the image in B&W with a less dramatic sky - the sky does begin to compete a bit with the flower. Aug 8th
62 Aug 20 Comment LuAnn, great story behind the image, and the little boy's curiosity is pretty clear. Very fun. I'm not bothered by the man's leg, didn't even notice, to be frank, my attention was on the pig and the action around it. great example of street photography and the low angle really makes it. 62 Aug 20 Comment Israel, very dramatic image - the edit does help tremendously. he light is the thing with this one. Great capture. Aug 8th
62 Aug 20 Comment the sax player does have a great expression. the edits you made do help reduce the background - sometimes with street photography we don't get to choose. I'm with LuAnn, I don't quite understand the process you used, if there is anything you can share on the technique it would be appreciated. Aug 8th
62 Aug 20 Reply Thanks, LuAnn, I felt something wasn't right and i think I played with the crop but nothing seemed right. I appreciate the suggestion. Since the shadows are the thing, maybe it doesn't matter if you can tell if it's a rock? i tried another version - see what you think. Aug 8th
62 Aug 20 Reply Thanks, Emil,
I like the idea of a photo project based on shadows and shadow patterns! Thanks for the suggestion
