I suggest that you go to San Diego, in about January. The brown pelicans will be in their breeding plumage. I plan to be there. |

I have read that with modern equipment the stabilizer can be left on. I do not turn it off. |

If you use auto ISO exposure compensation will probably be needed and that will change as you change the composition such as from horizontal to vertical. If you set it for the back round light it should hold as you change the composition. |

This is interesting. I do not know what is the subject. The lack of sharpness is also a concern. |

Technically I think it is well done. For me the subject going away lacks impact.

Spectacular scenery. Where was this? On my screen it is too bright. I would add some black.

You have lost detail in the whites. I prefer not to cut off the feet if possible. For me I would lose a little off of the right side. It may not be possible but if you can shoot it against a less busy back round that would be better in my opinion. |

I did use a tripod. I have used the lens without a tripod but I need about 1/2000th or better to insure sharpness. I know the rule that requires 1/600th but It is not enough for me after I am fatigued by hand holding. Thanks for your comments. |
