Thanks for the additional intel on the hat. It makes the other photos I have of this group more interesting to me. We had a great trip in January to Colombia (traveling with a group called 'Backroads'). We hiked/walked every day in three separate areas (not a photo trip but that doesn't stop me!) : We were in the coffee triangle near Pereira, on the Caribbean east of Santa Marta, and then Cartagena (trip was about 9 days total). We are moving this Monday (3/27) to Maryland (lifelong New Jerseyites) to be closer to children/grandchildren). No more sunrises/sunsets/moonrises/sets over Manhattan----new adventures). B |

I'm impressed that you asked this officer to pose for a photo. Yes, having a simpler background would help, but I'm sure that in the moment all you wanted to do was to get the photo.
Kudos for following up and sending all of your 'subjects' copies. What a great way to build bridges between strangers and to make it easier for the next person on the street to take photographs.
If he is a community 'relations' officer, I would not like to meet some of the other police officers in this community. It looks like he is carrying enough armaments and gear for a small army. B |

Ed - I agree that you captured the daily life and and like how the photo draws the viewer down the street to building at the end. You may have wanted to keep the image with the gray tones. I wonder if a bit more contrast, and more blacks work? Here's a quick look. B |

And where, I ask, are her shoes on a cold winter's day?? Your original crop was a great start. I agree that Ed's additional edits better help telling the story you captured. You could probably now even crop a bit from the top as well. B

At first I thought this was a loving guy with his pet cow until I took a second look and saw the little heads. Love the title! Great capture for a spur-of-the-moment shot. Your edits make the main subject really stand out.
Now, what was he going to do with these heads??? B |
