Thank you Isaac and all for your comments. I struggle with when, what, how, how much to crop images and generally seem to include too much. As I looked at this image and edited it I mostly decided that the sneakers/backpack in the front of the photo were a distraction; therefore the bigger crop. I did not think about moving to shoot from the front of the class but I do not think I would have been comfortable doing so (I also shot another dance group at the park from behind---Lesson learned, take the plunge and shoot from the back and front if you have the chance [I had the time]. Many thanks all. B |

Gloria - I like the perspective you created with the layers of wild flowers, the port-a-potty/man, and the sky/trees. The bright yellow stands out well against the green tree backdrop and the man looking away adds additional interest. I wonder if he made it 'in time'?? B |

Les.... and the adults love it as well (there is web cam!). I like your overall image but wonder whether a tighter crop of just the woman and a few of the penguins around her would focus the story more clearly (not sure if there enough pixels left with this much of a crop). B |

Sally - I like the image in B&W and besides the old car the two men in the corner help balance in the image and add more human interest. I find the storefronts and chairs to be interesting as well without being a distraction. The slight crop (I also struggle with when/how/how much to crop images and also find the group's comments to be really helpful) puts a greater emphasis on the single car though the highlights on it should be toned down a bit. Your photo tells the story and your explanation and title enhance the image. The wide angle perspective adds to the moment, showing that virtually every person in the group is reacting the same way to the trays put in front of them. The yellow/red complementary colors further add to the image. Hope the lunch was good. B |
