I thought I had posted a comment on this image but I must not have saved it. T
To me, this IS Havana! Multi-racial, colorful, with some trash on the street and open and exposed wires. All these things help tell the story. I like the contrast between the reds and blues (hair/pants and background) along with the action from the simple gesture of the women's hand to the man's looking out in the distance. Color works well here. B |

Simple and effective. The combination of the horizontal lines, and swirling of the vine outline the couple in the window. I also thought of the crop that Gloria suggested as a way of simplifying the overall image. Either way works. B |

Colors, lines and subject matter all go together well. You created an interesting image by simplifying it through your cropping. I like the women entering the scene AND she maintains the aubergine color motif in the photo. Nice capture and post-processed to make it a wonderful image. B |

Nice image and made even better with Isaac's crop. What an interesting lighthouse (I wasn't sure what it was at first).
So here's a question for the group..... What is street photography? I recently participated in a forum where the photographer said it had to be 'on the street' and in an urban setting. I kept my mouth shut................. IMO street photography is anything I see around me that is not a posed portrait, flowers/nature/wildlife, sporting event, or landscape. What do you all think? The lighting on the faces of the people drew my attention first. At first I wondered if it was over processed but there is a spot light on the menu which is illuminating the tourist looking at the menu. I see the focal point as the man trying to get the tourist to come inside, well photographed/lit and a great story - - - the rest of the photo further helps tell the story of what is there to eat inside. I like it. Everything is well lit and sharp as well. Since the focus is higher in the image the cutting off of the feet and being close to the edge seems less of a concern to my eye. B |

Beyond the really interesting architecture, I was drawn to the man who appears to be signaling 'stop'. Go no further? Don't take photos of the kids?, etc. It leaves a mystery. The other part of the photo that drew my attention is the man walking away at the top of the steps - - - a contrast between one man approaching and another leaving. Yes, a lot going on. Perhaps totally cropping out the left side (children) would provide more focus. B |

Thank you Isaac. This is a digitally scanned (photographed actually) image of the original B&W negative. I purposely left in the edges of the negative (I think it's a 'thing'?). |
