I really like the way that the rising steam ties together the cloudy sky and the water on the ground and all the geothermal activity underground. Your picture evoked in me a strong memory of the sulfur smell at Námafjall.
Did you consider burning out the people standing on the hill in the distance? I too really like the woman's red jacket. |

Clearly the edited picture is better. But, I tried to no avail to find a crop which didn't truncate birds. I understand and support the constraints on editing "nature photos", but they sure are frustrating.
Thanks for the clone edit! |

As in last month's picture, I love the rich textures on his face. And I also like the way his face was illuminated by light from different angles.
A personal nitpick, which could only be addressed in either capture or the picture's title, is that it wasn't until I read "About the Image" that I understood that the line in front of him was a rifle. |

I really like the variety of tones, and the creaky walls pushing out and leaning in. I visited Carcassone years ago and I don't remember it being that picturesque. Thank you, the picture evokes great memories!
Did you consider burning out or cropping out the folks at the far end of the path? |

I too was unhappy cutting the bird on the (left) edge. But unfortunately every vertical line in the image chops at least one bird.
I completely agree on the lack of sharpness. I need to learn a faster reaction to my camera settings (higher ISO or shutter speed, smaller aperture). At the time I relied on automatic ISO, and the camera chose shutter speed and aperture. If I'd at least have set shutter speed, the other 2 would have been adjusted automatically, though maybe not at optimal settings. |
