Nice work on transforming the original image to this beautiful shot. You always do well in creating something very nice from your original shot. The contrast of the bloom works well against your background and soft purple colors are very nice. I do like the suggestion Mark has provided; the glow from the tiny hairs on the stem did not really add to the flower. I do like how the bloom transitions from tight and closed to fully open. |

Very nice still life Mark. The blue glass and its contents are illuminated perfectly and command attention. I think the lines created on your table top add interest to the image and really make the blue shadow much more interesting. They give it a place and add dimension. Of course your decision to use afternoon sunlight works. It is always about the light and this time it imparts a soft warm glow to your image. Well done and quite interesting. |

Nice work here Lane. You have captured humor in nature with excellent composition. I like the lines leading up to the gulls drawing our eye right to them. Of course there is always one contrarian in every group and you found him here looking away from us. This, in my opinion, adds humor to your image. The line of gulls works well and three is, of course, a good number. Cool shot. |

Thanks for your comments Mark. I like your suggestion, it really conveys a night time scene and and works with the few folks in the booths. |

Hi Max and welcome. We are glad you are here with us.
I like this image, it is a flower that I am not familiar with but you have isolated the bloom nicely against the background.
With the background being out of focus you are drawing all the attention to the flower, just as it should be. It is good that the bloom is against a dark area to heighten the contrast between the two. Of course, the red color of the bloom is the star and keeps the eye focused where you want it.
Nice shot Max. |

Steampunk for sure Andrew. You have captured (created) a wonderful depiction of the genre. Everything in this image is working in harmony to create the final product. I just love the look on the guy's face and the crazy moustache he is sporting. All the details, gears, goggles fit perfectly into the image to tell the story. This could be a poster for the Steampunk Festival!
Great fun shot. |

Thanks for your comments Harley. It was fun editing, but I don't think I could reproduce the look even if I wanted to. I did a lot of tweaking just trying to get rid of the color cast and finally had to accept it and make it work for me. |

Thanks for your visit and comments Stephen. I remember diners well growing up in New Jersey as a young kid. They were everywhere and we went to them occasionally. They all had the same look inside and the food was good and reasonably priced. As you mentioned, there are some left today, but very few.
I did not realize the similarity to Night Hawks when I shot the photo, but now that you mention it I see it. Hoppers painting is one of my favorites as it tells a story which is what I hope to do with my images. |
