Hi Marylin, just visiting from group 43.
I really like your image of the pair of Whistling ducks. Nice and sharp and the colors all work well together. You have a nice diagonal across the image with the two ducks and the branch. It leads the eye into your shot nicely. The branch adds interest yet does not detract from your subjects and the OOF background while not too subtle in color does not interfere at all. The position of your ducks looking to the right makes the viewer wonder what they are looking at and creates a bit of mystery in your image.
I have been a camera club judge for many years and would have given you a moderately high score and congratulated you on your image. My only suggestion to you would be to crop just a bit off of the bottom to eliminate some of the green in the lower center which would focus all the attention on your subjects. Nice work here, very nice. |

Very cool image Mark. You are telling us a story at 19 years old. The overcast sky, the concertina wire in the foreground, the drab landscape do not paint a happy picture. I am sure you did not get to see these images until quite a bit after you took them. Do you have a large collection of images from you time there. I am sure it would be an interesting story if you would like to tell it. Thanks for sharing. |

This is an interesting object. It does look like it came from outer space. I like how you have changed the original look with your adjustments. I think it gives this shot the "other worldly" look. I do agree with Lane on the background and sky blending together. I think you need some separation between the two. Short of changing the texture overlay you might try just darkening the sky to create a bit of separation. This is a cool shot and I think you can have a lot of fun with it. |

Great story telling shot Andrew. You caught the peak and the feeding is nice and sharp. I do see a bit of blur on the wing tips of mama and my camera club would criticize you for that. I, on the other hand applaud that since I find that a sharp, static bird in the air looks a bit odd. Their wings are moving and I want to see a bit of blur in most cases! I also like that you caught mama with outspread wings and the lighting under them is pretty good. You do have a nice soft background which calls attention to your subjects. My only suggestion would be to darken the top of the wall under the adult just a bit. Good work! |

Thanks for your comments Lane. That should be an easy fix for me on this one. |
