Thanks for your comments Lane. I liked the fibers / spider web on the stems too. I rarely notice them until I start processing my images though. |

Thanks for your comments Andrew. Even though bees are somewhat slow moving (compared to your humming bird) they are always busy doing something and not always easy to get the eyes. I think it is good to be lucky sometimes! |

Harley, I think you pulled out some nice detail in the tail and wing feathers of this bird and your creamy background is wonderful. You have a nice composition and a nice tight crop focusing on the subject. As others have mentioned, I would prefer it looking at me, but sometimes we get what we get. I think you have done well for such a large crop from the origina. |

Way cool Mark. Love this one. You have chosen a great base for the reflection into the bulb, the circles in all their shapes just keep me looking. Colors work very well together and, of course, the bulb is the star with its interesting shape and filament inside. Great fun shot. |

Well Lane I feel this touches all the bases for a landscape--foreground, middle and far. The rocks are a strong anchor and the valley leads the eye into the scene to see the lake (I think) which is also lighted by a ray of sunshine. In the distance we have the soft outline of the mountain ridges. All the colors are soft and calming. I can see why the others find this peaceful. Nice image. |

Well Linda, I like it! Oversaturated or not. I think you have an interesting interpretation of the original scene--it looks to me like it was painted with oils by an artist (not that you aren't one yourself). I think the smooth texture to the rocks is somehow calming and the bright colors make for an interesting landscape. |

Great detail and excellent color on this insect Leo. Your exposure of the subject is perfect and the light is great. I always find it hard to expose these guys properly since I mainly find them on sunny days and usually the tail is quite overexposed--you have solved that problem. I do agree that a tighter crop is in order bring all the attention on your subject and also making it a bit larger in the frame giving us a better look at the wing detail. Nice find. |

Thanks for your comments Leo. The bee never stops moving or so it seems. I agree that it would be nicer to see its eyes looking at us. |

Nice composition Andrew. You have a great subject and a very pleasing background--bravo. I also like how you have framed the shot like a photo on the wall--all the colors work well together. Your red Yucca really catches my eye and takes up a lot of real-estate in the photo. Your hummer is the star and I might suggest a tighter crop to make him more prominent in the image. Also I feel the birds wings are in the "in between" range of sharp and blurry. I understand what you were going after with the wing blur although I might suggest showing us a lot more wing movement or none at all. More movement will give your image a dynamic look and convey the speed of those wings. With all that said you have captured a very nice image that looks like it should be hanging on your wall. |

Thanks Harley it was early in the morning and the light was nice, soft and diffused. That helped with the colors and to eliminate the shadows. I was only about 20 feet from the subject. |
