Thanks Harley. The thing about birds is they like to move around a lot. I might have captured a better pose if I waited a bit, but he could have flown off too! |

Nice work on this Harley. You have taken a good image with a not so pleasing background and turned it into a keeper. You have done magic in PS to get the refection and dark background. Of course your original exposure was a good starting point because you captured much detail in the swans feathers and was careful not to overexpose a white bird. Let me know when you are giving lessons, I'll be there. |

Mark, this is a powerful storytelling image. Unfortunately it does tell a sad story of our times. Removal of the bags would be removing his livelihood or really his means of support which, in my opinion, is what your image is all about. The dog, obviously, has got your number and looks wary and protective. They are a team, and as Linda said, are loyal to their owners. I think your composition works well here and you nailed the exposure. Nice work and if you notice, your image has gotten more comments than most have in the past year. Good work on that front also. |

Very interesting image Lane. I love the texture and symmetry of it all. Your capture makes me want to see more and that is the mark of a good photo. I wonder what is on the left and right and especially what is through the archway. Nicely composed.
I do wish that the trees that I can see in the distant archway were more in focus (then the foreground might be soft) or perhaps a bit darker, but other than that I think this is quite nice.

Well done Linda. Love the motion in the wings while keeping the eye and body sharp. It seems that these birds never stay still long enough for a portrait, but you have caught this one in mid flight for a great shot. Nice refection under the bird and it appears the water did give some light under the breast as it was reflecting up a bit. I do think if you could lighten its breast a bit you might get a little more pop in the image. Nice capture, hope the shrimp was good too. |

Very nice shot Leo. Everyone is having lunch here and you are showing us a wonderful portrait of mother and baby. I feel your exposure is spot on and focus is sharp and clear on the eyes as it should be. The muted tones of the surroundings add to the intimate feel you are portraying here. I feel that a tighter crop as Linda has shown us works well and further enhances the image. Good work on this one. |

You have captured a lot of power in this image Andrew. The lighting strike is, well, striking! I really like how it is lighting the mountain giving it a nice glow and illuminating the lower clouds also. The mountains show nice detail and are well lighted. Looking at the shot you have three bands of light starting at the bottom being the most illuminated, lesser in the middle with the lower clouds and finally darkest with the upper clouds. That is until we get to the very top where we find a bit lighter sky and clouds. My point is maybe if you were to crop the top inch of of the photo you could better focus all of the attention on the mountain top and lighting strike. Either way this is a great catch. |

Thanks Linda. I like what you have done making this bird stand out from the background. I usually don't do that with nature shots since my club is persnickety on adjustments that can be made in the nature category and I shy away from edits like you have done here. With that said, as a pure image this is much better with no distractions and the bird as the star of the show. |

Thanks for your comments Mark. Yes you did add a bit of detail--whites are tough ones to nail, especially on feathers. |
