Hi Angela, Bruce from Group 43 here. I like you shot of the bulb and reflection. A different perspective than mine, but you have chosen nice vibrant colors and they reflect well in the bulb. I also am liking how the bulb extends above the light into the darkness. I think I am going to try something along those lines for my next try of this. Nice work. |

You are the modern artist Harley. This looks like it should be hung on the wall in a modern office building. I like muted effect and your choice of colors is very on trend. One really has to look to discover that the subject is train cars. The angular composition works well and just adds to the overall effect. You have made lemonade out of lemons here, nice work. |

Thanks Harley. When I started the shoot I thought focus would be tough since the room was dark and the only light came from the tablet. As it turns out no problem at all, there was plenty of light and contrast for auto focus. I tried manual, but the fact that the bulb wanted to roll a bit made that somewhat tougher. |

Thanks Mark. I took a lot of time at the store finding the bulb. There were a few different filament patters and, of course, bulb sizes. Some of the very old style bulbs would have worked perfectly. |

Thanks Andrew. It was fun trying to find just the right angle to shoot to get the best reflection. The fact that the bulb wanted to roll away made it even more interesting. |

Thanks Angela, I commented on yours too. Funny how we both chose the same type of "non traditional" image this month. It makes it fun when one can have a look at different takes on experimental type work. |

This has IMPACT Mark, and lots of it! I like how you composed the image with the "flames" swooping up to the glowing orb. The contrast of colors is striking creating a great effect. I also feel the little crackle of string fiber like glow on the subject is the finishing touch keeping the viewer looking at your image--it creates tension which is just what you want in an image of this type. I like this a lot. |

You did well to hold detail in the Egret's feathers in the bright sun Lane, not an easy task. Very nice portrait of the two birds with some great plumage that is well detailed and nicely reflected by the sun. You are showing us that a good photographer can get the shot even at high noon! You have nice contrast with the green leaves making your subject pop. Nicely captured. |

Hi Linda, I agree this is a nice calming scene. I really like the white bark on the tree, it gives it a glowing effect. I wonder what the bunches of leaves in the tree are. Perhaps squirrel nests? Keeping the viewer wondering and looking is the mark of a good image. I also like how the river separates the foreground and acts as an anchor to the tree. I wonder how this would look as a landscape shot with a bit more area on the right. Nice image. |

I like the way the three bells form a triangle here Andrew. My eye keeps checking each one out. Not only that, but the cross and the two elements on either side of the top bell form another triangle and one could argue that the cross at the top forms a triangle with the two lower bells. Well seen. I also like the painterly look you have given the image with the sepia toning, it works well especially in the sky. I think you might get by with a bit less tree on the right since it is not adding much.
Very nice. |
