43 Dec 22 Reply Sure is, look at the smog in the air. Pgh. really cleaned up the city. When I was in High School there I remember my biology teacher commenting that it was hard to see the colors of birds because they were covered in soot! One of the Iconic views from that location that I remember was seeing the "Clark" sign in the night sky (off to the left of your position I think). I know that is gone now, but I always associate it with the city. Dec 17th
43 Dec 22 Comment Harley, you have done well to capture all the texture and detail in this shot. I do like the repeating windows leading us to the open door where we get a peek inside to see what it contains. When I look at your original shot I see a religious statue on the far right. This intrigues me and I wonder why it is there. Maybe the shot here would be to include the statue in your shot giving the viewer something to focus on and wonder why, like I did. What do you think? 43 Dec 22 Comment Great iconic photo of the city of Pittsburgh Mark. You are showing us not only the heart of the city but the soul by including the Inclined plane railway in your shot. I think your lines and point of view create interest and tell a story, especially with the train cars full of coal in the foreground. Although Pgh. is more tech today it is still remembered as a "Steel City", hence the name of the football team. I do wish you had captured more of the railway the incline plane car is on to give use a bit more context. Nice shot. Dec 10th
43 Dec 22 Reply Thanks for the full shot Linda. I will bring an empty pot if I come to visit! Dec 10th
43 Dec 22 Comment Leo, I feel you have created a wonderful image here. I really like the golden tones which you get at that time of day. Your curving lines of the roadway leads the viewers eye right into the shot and you have used the long exposure to eliminate any automobile distractions changing them into pleasing streaks of light. The colorful sky contrasts well with the image and I like how the bridge fades away into the night. The starbursts around the lights are an added bonus and I am assuming this was caused by the f/11 aperture. Very pretty image. Dec 10th
43 Dec 22 Comment Well Lane, I think you have created a winner here. You have it all going on. An interesting subject in the lighthouse with very pleasing light on it. Leading and converging lines with the fence and shoreline leading the viewer to the subject. The points of interest, Lighthouse and sun, are on the power points of the rules of thirds. The visual element of the birds is leading us once again to the main subject. Everyone loves a sunset and you have even given us some rays there too.
Well done, this should be hanging in the lighthouse for all to see.

43 Dec 22 Comment What a beautiful flower Linda. You have captured it well with a very pleasing background and with your cell phone no less. You show us nice detail and color in the image. My eye does keep moving to the top of your phots, I do wish I could see a bit more of the flower. I have never seen this before could you tell me what the whole plant looks like? My guess is Christmas Cactus like in terms of blooms. Dec 7th
43 Dec 22 Comment Love the shot Andrew, the intensity on the makeup artist face is great and you have captured it well with your sharp focus. I also like the profile of the lady being painted. Her face and the artist's shirt certainly tell us what the occasion is. I think you have a good start isolating the subjects from the original photo, but I don't think you have gone far enough. I am attaching an edited copy for your review. I have gone even tighter on the crop and darkened the background even more. I realize as a journalistic photographer the scene needs to tell a story, but in this instance I don't think you need anything more than the subjects for proper context. Let me know your thoughts.
