Thanks Andrew, they certainly do have bed head. They put on quite a show for me when I was photographing them. Lots of fun. I agree about the hot spots, I will eliminate them on my next go around with this image. |

Thanks Linda, the darker background does make them stand out more. This was taken a a Rookery. All kinds of birds (and photographers) were there. Most everyone was concentrating on taking photos of the White Snowy Egrets with their flowing feathers. I saw these two putting on a little show like two siblings would do and they did not disappoint. |

Yes, a low vantage point when shooting usually makes the difference between a good and a great image. It also helps remove distractions that otherwise would be present with a straight on shot. |

I love the colors in your image Leo. You have given us a very interesting image with leading lines, foreground interest with the rocks and a airplane as a focal point. To top it all off we see a hazy sunset. I feel you have composed this well and like how you have put together all the elements. I must say though that I do like what Linda has done also giving a different perspective on the situaltion.
Nice work. |

Lovely macro Lane. I like the soft ethereal look of your image, it looks so delicate. You have defocused and blended the background well and the flower is certainly the star of this shot. I feel the square crop is what is called for and could see this as a theme on textiles. I do agree with Linda that a stem might give it a "place", but it is beautiful without it. |

Wonderful Limpkin photo Harley. I think the sharp detail and saturated colors bring it to life for the viewer. You have done a good job de-focusing the background to keep the viewers eye on the bird. Normally I would not suggest taking a shot of the back of a bird, but in this case you are leading the viewer to see what the bird is seeing and that is lunch--the apple snail. Yum! My only suggestion would be to lessen the blur on the snail since it is the secondary subject in you image. I have taken many a Limpkin shot and this is a great one. |

What a beautiful flower group Mark. Great detail and I really like how they are stacked in a row of three. You also have captured fine detail which, I feel, gives your shot lots more interest. I don't mind the bee at the top, I think it looks good there. You might consider a looser crop on the left and then darken the non flower areas around the left, right and top of the flowers. That may give it even more impact. Great image! |

How lovely Linda. I like the fact that you got down low to shoot this scene. It gives the viewer a sense of being there. Your slower shutter speed has turned a pretty shot into a impressionistic view. You have the wonderful sky and the soft look of the Bluebonnets aided by the wind and the slower shutter. The red interspersed makes the image that more interesting. I also feel that the photographer in the image adds to your shot. Monet would be proud. |

Well, Andrew I feel you have accomplished your goal of creating an image that reflects "Broken". The snapped poppy is front and center and OOF both of which tell me the story. You have taken the extra step to desaturate the background which not only removed some clutter, but also brings your subjects front and center. I do notice a bit of fringing on the poppies, most likely from the desaturation--an easy fix in PS. Good work on this "assignment". |
