Thanks for your comments Andrew. I was well below this bird and the only background available, from my vantage point, was a clear sky, but I do understand what you are saying.
Sometimes you need to take what you can get.
By the way, he was a great poser! |

Andrew you have a great composition here. The line of rocks has lots of great texture and color which lead the eye to the Las Vegas lights and on up to the "Starry Starry Night"
and Milky Way. The colors and texture are great, but like Mark I feel you may have a bit of noise in you image that is preventing the stars from being their sharpest. Would an exposure of say 26 sec. at ISO 5000 have produced a sharper image (lower ISO=less noise)? You would still be under the recommended 35 sec. (for a 14mm lens) for sharp stars. Your image makes me want to go out and find some dark sky. |

Harley, I really like the grittiness of your image. The repeating pilings are my favorite--they have nice texture and look like they have been there for decades. I feel your conversion to monochrome was a good choice and you have even coaxed out some stormy cloud detail in the sky. While I don't mind the "crunchiness" of the water in the foreground I do feel that you may have over tweaked the motion blur a bit since the light poles seem to be a tad blurry. Nice mono. |

Leo, you have a lot of interesting elements in your photo. I like the way my eye is led into the frame by the trail of light on the foreground rocks leading me to focus on the subject. The subject is a nice silhouette against a lighter background and nicely framed by the opening to the cave. I feel you have captured a nice bit of dynamic range here with the dark of the cave and the light of the sky all being properly lit. Was this an HDR image or does the R5 have that large of a dynamic range? Nice work. |

My favorite duck for sure. Your image shows off all the beautiful colors and patterns of this guy. You really pulled out all the stops and captured nice detail from that original image. It is good that we see his eye looking right at us and the tilt of the head adds to the shot. I also like the softness of the water and the muted reflection of the ducks head. Nice work on this portrait. |

In your face color and super composition here Mark. I like the ethereal feel of your image and the "fiery look" under the moon is a pretty cool creative. It is obvious you did lots to your original shot and they are as different as night and day. I like it! But as Linda mentioned I would like to know more about how you got from point "A" to the final image. |

Thanks for your comment Linda. He did have two legs. I watched him for a while as he surveyed the landscape and occasionally he would stand on both, but seemed to be more comfortable imitating a Flamingo on one leg. I hear what you are saying about the sky and I did try to saturate it a bit more, but found that produced some white fringing around the bird that was objectionable. I am sure with a little more effort it could be eliminated. |
