Group Round C/R Comment Date Image
43 Nov 20 Reply Thanks for your comment Lane. Agree about the eye. Nov 14th
43 Nov 20 Comment Hi Alex, welcome to the group, we are glad you are here.

I think you have captured a great portrait of this hummingbird. He looks like he is going in for some food with his little tongue sticking out of the beak and the square crop frames him nicely. I feel your background, which is soft and creamy, sets him off very well and enhances his color nicely. I wish you had told us the shutter speed and aperture information you used for this shot in the about the image dialogue area. I don't mind the blur of the wings as this, to me, conveys the birds rapid movements, but I do feel that the image is a bit soft especially around the tail.

43 Nov 20 Reply I understand your thinking, making this not only a very nice HDR, but also a bit of social commentary of the state of the times. Hopefully we can get out of our cocoons soon and get back to everyday life. Nov 12th
43 Nov 20 Reply Thanks Harley. I do think my tighter crop makes the bird stand out a bit more. Nov 12th
43 Nov 20 Comment Very nice landscape Lane. I think the colors are just wonderful and the tones in the far sky really enhance the shot. The mountain peaks starting on the left lead my eye into the frame as I circle around the image. There is also a small surprise, fire tower, in the center which adds to the shot. I think your poetic description is apt for this shot.
I do feel that there is a lot of negative space on the right with all of the foreground clouds. Perhaps cropping a little off of the right might give more importance to the mountain tops.

43 Nov 20 Reply Thanks for your comment Mark. You are right, we photographers sometimes have to take what we get. It all depends on how we handle it! Sometimes you get lucky, sometimes not so much. Nov 6th
43 Nov 20 Comment Thanks for your comments Linda. I too wish he had a fish or something good to eat. That would have created more drama for the shot. Nov 4th
43 Nov 20 Comment Cool photo Mark. You nailed the exposure and brought out all the great detail and tones in the rocks and ruins. I feel your choice to include a fellow photographer in your image was spot on. It gives the viewer a sense of the size and the grandeur of this area. I also like the implied leading line from the photographers (one in the image, not you) camera lens to the ruins leading the viewers eye to your subject. Too bad the area needed to be fenced in but we run into those almost everywhere anymore. Nov 4th
43 Nov 20 Comment I like HDR effect you produced Harley. The colors and tone of the image make it look warm and inviting vs. your original. I think making the clock your subject was wise as it tells us when and where. I do think I would like to see a bit more of the building on the left and less of the cars at the bottom though. Nov 4th
43 Nov 20 Comment Very nice landscape shot Linda with a very interesting subject. I feel your shot is very crisp and clear giving me the feeling I am there. I like the many colors you have brought out, especially the subtle blues in the water. I also like how you have caught the mountain reflection in the water near the bottom of the image. My only suggestion would be to consider cropping out about half of the grass along the bottom of the image. You will still have a foreground element, but I think the reflection will show more prominently. If you put a postage stamp on the back of this it would be a Post Card--nice shot. Nov 3rd

58 Nov 20 Comment Hi Gloria, just visiting from Group #43. I really like your image. I think the juxtaposition of the happy couple with the couple of men on the right and the couple of woman on the left is great. My eye keeps bouncing between the three points of interest yet always comes to rest on the wedding couple. I see new beginnings with the wedding pair, chance meetings with the men and old friends with the two women.
Your image tells a wonderful story, nice job.
