Thanks Linda. The border got away from me, I agree a thinner one would be best. |

Yes Mark, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. At first I was trying to tell the whole story of flower and bug, but after looking at the crop suggested by Harvey I do like the focus on the bug better and it also brings out the yellow center well too. I do like your shot here though, well composed. As you might know by now I am partial to dark to black backgrounds as I feel they focus all attention on the subject. |

Thanks Lane, I agree, Harvey nailed the crop and showcased the bug well. |

Very interesting abstract Mark. I really like your background as it gives your image a sense that it is floating. That coupled with the movement of the top creates a very modernistic look. While I feel your composition is just fine and follows the rules I wonder how this would look dead center in frame and a bit lower. I feel that might give the subject more importance.
What did you use for the interesting background?

I can see how the wave shows in your crop. I missed it on the first pass. Like I said, sometimes less is more and you would lose that effect with a wider crop. |

Thanks Harley. This is now well balanced and shows off the bug very well as the main character. |

I really like the feel of this shot Lane. Very moody and ominous. So cool that you captured the lightning and framed it between the two arms of the driftwood. I feel that the rugged texture of the driftwood adds to the look and of course your choice for monochrome is spot on. You have also captured a large tonal range which makes for the best monochrome shots. |

Thanks for your visit and comments Barbara. I can see how this would work as a square by cropping the left side. I must agree with a thinner border. It came out larger than intended. Live and learn. |

Well Harley, both of the roses are beautiful. I do like what you have done though. The detail on the final is just wonderful. Of course I especially like the water droplets, but the petal edges toward the center are tack sharp and full of detail. You have chosen an interesting crop and my only comment is that I would like to see more rose. But sometimes it is best to keep them wanting more. Nice work. |

I really like looking at this photo. I feel it is so well balanced in terms of color and space--the golden rice under the blue sky with all of those birds flying overhead. I also like those fall looking trees in the background. I think they give a nice separation between the rice and the flock.
After reading your comments I wonder how rice farmer ever gets to harvest any rice with all of the "flying competition" for the rice.
What kind of bird are they? Gulls? |

Well captured Maitham. I really like how you have separated the tiger from the background. It just pops and is larger than life. The colors and texture are really super, I feel like I could reach in and pet him. The fact that you caught him with his purplish tongue out really completes the image.
My only suggestion would be to brighten the water just a bit to separate it from the rocks. |
