Thanks Linda. I think everyone is right about more space for the cardinal. I asked him and he thought it was best also. |

Thanks for your comments Maitham. I'll give it a try although in this case I was at ISO 1000 at 1/200. I really didn't want to have a slower shutter and risk motion blur (the bird) to have a larger f stop and a higher ISO is sometimes noisy. I do agree that more depth of field would be preferable. |

Thanks for your comments Lane. I have updated the photo per your suggestions. The crop I feel is a matter of preference, either one will work for this subject. I also increased the contrast and color intensity. He now looks brighter and redder, but for a juvenile male I feel the colors don't look right. Muted is better in this case in my opinion. I did clone out the gunk in his eye. I asked him to blink before I took the shot but he would not comply:) Let me know if you like this one better. |

Thanks for your comment and suggestion Beverly. I always like to try to have a nicely de-focused background to keep attention on the subject. While I understand what you are trying to accomplish I find the lower right corner a bit of a distraction as it doesn't look natural and I am not sure about the spots on the upper left either. I appreciate your visit. |

Nice catch of this guy posturing and calling. I like the fact that you caught him puffed up. He must be calling for a mate. A busy background nicely de-focused to bring attention to the subject. I think I might like to see the edges burned a bit to focus even more on the bird, but that is just a matter of preference. |

Ah, yes. Stuff happens when you get older. These things happen to me all the time. Nice shot. |

I like how the light is striking under the beak, neck and chest of this bird. The highlights are well exposed although I would like to see the body a little bit lighter, I think that would make the heron almost glow in the evening light. |

Captured at the perfect moment--great timing. Your exposure is right on and shows all the texture in the feathers and detail in the egret. I also like how the background is nice and creamy and sets off the bird. I do like Harley's crop suggestion. This is very nice as a square format and it helps eliminate some of the grey area on the right. |

Very nice portrait of these two young ladies. I like how you have framed them in the doorway and it looks like they are looking right at me and smiling. Great exposure to get the girls and the wood properly exposed, The texture in the surrounding area adds nice detail and seems to draw me to your subjects. I realy like your image, only suggestion would to tone down the little bit of the dress at the very bottom--not even an issue really. |

What's not to love about a puppy photo. You nailed the focus and the composition is right on. His eyes draw the viewer in and his sad face is perfect. I also like the bits of flower or paper scattered about on the floor--makes me wonder if he did that or not. It adds a bit of whimsy to your shot. Just a note, the top left portion of the image looks a bit funky, not sure why. Perhaps a bit of cloning? Hope he is sleeping through the night! |

I love the warm tone of your image. It makes the scene look rich and comforting. The detail is well developed, even the upper panels are distinguishable. I could see this framed and hanging on your wall. My only suggestion, for next time, would to shoot it square on but that is just a matter of preference. |
