Thanks Mike, it just shows that there are many ways to present an image. No one look is the "correct" one, all a matter of preference, but it is helpful to get other points of view too. |

Thanks for the reply and image Linda. Maybe just a bit dark vs. reality since we are getting a bit of chroma on the top edge of the bird, but I understand what you are suggesting about giving it a bit more saturation to deepen the colors so it pops a little more. |

Thanks for the comment Harley, I agree on the vignette not sure why I didn't start with that. Always next time. |

Great perspective on a beautiful rose. I think shooting from the back of the flower towards the front produced a super image for you. I especially like the solid red bands on the petal edges at the top right. They give the petals depth and thickness. I don't think it would hurt to show even a bit more of them. Your lighting is very good showing all that detail in the flower. My only suggestion would be to lighten the burn on the corners just a bit, especially lower left and upper right. |

Lovely flower shot Mark, point of focus is spot on and the softness of the yellow color is very nice. I agree that it doesn't need sharpening as that give a "crunchy" look. I find that focusing on stamen is not as easy as it looks. You have done this perfectly. My only suggestion would be to darken the left corner a bit, not that it is blown out but it is just so bright compared to the subtleness of the rest of the shot. |

I like the contrast of all the colors in your image and that bright splash of red, so for me, the choice is the shot with the replacement blue sky. All of those buds provide lots of interest it is like they are looking everywhere. My eye does keep landing on the one large bud that is front and center. Since it is a bit out of the depth of field you might consider cloning that one out. I particularly like your perspective on this shot, you were right down there with it when you took the picture. |

I like how you have framed the elders with the arch. Also the detail on the far walls and the brick tell us this is an old area with lots of character. You subject is a bit dark because the sun is behind them. Perhaps next time take the shot while they are in the sun or consider using a flash. I really like the composition, I just wish I could see their faces. |

Nice sharp photo of the flower and bonus ant. I really like the ant, he provides a surprise in your image and is a nice focal point on the delicate flower. As for the grass at the top, that does provide a frame for the flower and doesn't bother me. The orange flower on the left it does draw the eye away from your subject. Removing it via clone would work, but I suggest a crop. This removes the orange flower, puts the ant on a 1/3 intersection, gives him more importance and uses the grass as more of a frame.
What do you think? |

Thanks for your comments and suggestions Larry. I have lowered the exposures on the bird a little and do feel it helps as it was overexposed a bit. I also tried to darken the upper water as you suggested, I am not sure I like how it turned out. I will have to keep working on it. |

Very nice shot of the onion Linda. I really like the depth and how your lighting brought out the texture. There is a lot of detail with the veins and breaks in the skin. I also like the bright green of the "hair" which caught my attention first and then my eye wandered to the rest of the image--it works well.
To offer a suggestion, while I like your background, I wonder if it was a bit lighter near the bottom of the onion to give it even more dimension. |
