63 Jun 23 Comment Hi Charlie,
Unusual and interesting macro shot. You captured nice details and texture on the tiny, colorful peppercorns through the glass vase. However, I think there is too much noise in the image. Otherwise, its a nice shot.

63 Jun 23 Comment Hi Neal,
Nice shot. Your placement of the colorful fly on the leaf worked well. Fine details on the fly and leaf. Cropping the bottom and left part of the leaf as Charlie suggested would improve the image. Good job.

63 Jun 23 Comment Hi Priscilla,
Nice composition. The delicate pink color of the Alstromerias against the dark purple background is lovely. You captured sharp detail on the flowers. Good exposure. I agree with Murphy and Charlie suggestions to add more canvas on top and remove the line in the background. I am impressed that this image was taken with your cellphone. It looks great. Well done.

63 Jun 23 Reply Thank you for your explanation, Charlie. It helps me with my future submissions. Jun 8th
63 Jun 23 Reply Could you explain why Murphy's image is not an acceptable "close up" image for this group? In my opinion, it is close up. I thought "close up" could be a close up shot of a subject or portion of a subject without regards to the actual size of the actual subject( loaf of bread, postage stamp). Jun 8th
63 Jun 23 Reply Hi Charlie,
Could you provide more information about " close up" and "macro""definition? When you say " loaf of bread" and "postage stamp", what are you referring to? Do you mean the actual subject cannot be larger than a loaf of bread, or the photographed image cannot be larger than a loaf of bread? Are you saying that a macro image cannot be larger than a postage stamp? Could you explain further? Thank you.

63 Jun 23 Comment Hi Murphy,
Lovely presentation of an old wheel. The red leaves and berries add impact. Your perspective leads my eye into the frame. Good depth of field. Sharp details and texture on the wheel. The blackened background worked well. No changes needed . All is well done. I find this image to be very pleasing.

99 Jun 23 Reply Thank you, Peter. I tried that crop, it didn't look right without the background. Jun 11th
99 Jun 23 Reply Thank you, Kathleen. I'll try to crop it as you suggested. Jun 11th
99 Jun 23 Comment Thank you, Linda. It looks good. Jun 11th
99 Jun 23 Comment Hi Linda,
Great shot. It's a lovely image, and the only suggestion I have is to flip it. The light bursts reflecting in the
glass-like water adds interest. Excellent work.

99 Jun 23 Comment Hi Tom,
This is a picture perfect composition, and I agree with Peter that it would make a nice Christmas card. Great perspective capturing the tree. The old, antique, nostalgic presentation of the lovely winter scene adds the finishing touch. Well done.

99 Jun 23 Comment Hi Kathleen,
Good story. Yes, I do see how the shape of her rainhat looks like a birds head. I agree with Gerard and Peter to crop the left side, thereby allowing more space in front of her as she enters the frame to do her shopping. Nicely done. I enjoyed it.

99 Jun 23 Comment Hi Gerard,
Great shot of the "stately" building on "State Street". I appreciate the architectural beauty of old buildings. Nicely composed with leading lines, patterns, and texture throughout the image. You presented the strength and character of the building very well.

99 Jun 23 Comment Hi Peter,
Beautiful seaside location. You captured a good story of the man eating lunch in the midst of the hustle and bustle below. The image holds my interest. Sharp details and good exposure. The background is an important part of the story, but I might darken it a little bit to give the man more presence in the frame. Nicely done. I enjoyed it.
