19 Jul 22 Reply Thank you, Harriet. I wasn't able to go inside. It was closed, but I'll visit again and hope it's open. The pandemic caused unexpected closings. Jul 24th

19 Jul 22 Comment Hi Norm,
Great story (stories)! Nice presentation and colors.

19 Jul 22 Comment Hi Stan,
Nice architectural shot with lots of details and texture. The warm tones of the building against the blue sky worked well.
I might crop out the left building slanting to the right, unless your intent was to retain as much of the scene as possible. Old buildings have so much character. I enjoyed viewing this image.

19 Jul 22 Comment Hi Harriet,
Archie's pose is regal. You captured all his beautiful features. He is following in his aunt's footsteps to become a winner at Westminster. I enjoy the show each year. Nicely done.

19 Jul 22 Comment Hi Jay,
Nicely composed nature shot. The shapes and colors are pleasing. Sharp details and texture. Good DOF on the lily. I think if you removed the specks on the pads, the underside of the lily, and the water it would improve the image. Just my thoughts.

19 Jul 22 Comment Hi Carol,
You've captured a beautiful portrait of your smiling granddaughter. The shadows and parachute strings provided leading lines, and the white parachute is a nice backdrop for your granddaughter. I might clone out the partial shed in the background. It doesn't add anything to this image. Just a thought. Nicely done.

19 Jul 22 Reply Thank you Jay. I had the same question, to crop out or not crop the left branch. Now you answered my question. I will crop it. Jul 8th

63 Jul 22 Reply The orange flower against the brown toned textured background is striking. I have used parchment paper as a background in some images. It worked well. I agree that the texture adds interest to the image. Thank you, Charlie. Jul 21st
63 Jul 22 Reply Lovely. I like the softness of the light and the slightly textured background. Jul 21st
63 Jul 22 Reply Thank you, Priscilla. Jul 21st
63 Jul 22 Reply Thank you for your suggestions, Charlie. I like textures, and would be interested to see your examples. Jul 20th
63 Jul 22 Comment Thank you for that excellent tip, Neal. Will try it. Jul 17th
63 Jul 22 Comment Hi Alane,
Interesting story about the challenges of capturing this beautiful flower. Sharp details on the flower and pesky insects. Good texture and colors. I agree with Murphy to darken the background a bit. Nice shot.

63 Jul 22 Comment Hi Shaji,
Nice nature shot. Good bokeh.

63 Jul 22 Comment Hi Priscilla,
Nicely done. The shadows add dimension to the lily. Nice texture on the petals and spiky yellow center. I particularly like the shadow of the spike on the white petal. I think this image would also look great in monochrome.

63 Jul 22 Comment Hi Neal,
Incredible shot. All the fine details are tack sharp. You captured the tiny fly and presented him as a monster fly. Amazing it's just his head. Well done, once again.

63 Jul 22 Reply Thank you, Murphy. Good suggestion. I'll flip it. Jul 13th
63 Jul 22 Comment Hi Murphy,
The colors and shapes of the pansies are striking. The blooms pop against the black background. Perfect lighting. Sharp details. Nice!y composed having the larger blooms in the center. Very pleasing to my eye. Nicely done.

63 Jul 22 Comment Hi Charlie,
Well done. I've dabbled in light painting after being inspired by Harold Ross too. Your light painting adds more drama to the image. The light and shadows are soft. You captured the light perfectly focusing on the radish and few Brussels sprouts. Great DOF. It requires patience to get a good exposure. My attempts were always one shot. Your image is just lovely.
Last month I submitted an image to group 19 which I light painted with a flashlight. Thoughts if you have a chance?

99 Jul 22 Reply Thank you so much Angela. Jul 8th
99 Jul 22 Comment Hi Peter,
Great portrait. Pete's pose is natural and relaxed. You captured the thoughtfulness in his eyes. Linda's edits on his eyes make his eyes pop. I wouldn't darken the expression lines. Your lighting appears to be perfect. Pete does have lots of character and you portrayed him well. You always manage to take incredible portraits. I like the black and white version.

99 Jul 22 Comment Simply lovely, Gerard. Nicely composed. The branch of bleeding hearts gracefully flows into the frame. Your lighting and perspective emphasize the tones, shapes, and texture of the flowers. Tack sharp details. The black background was a perfect choice. I would prefer to see more separation and breathing room around the two upper buds. However, your presentation is lovely. I like it. Jul 6th
99 Jul 22 Comment Hi Randy,
The image has emotional impact. I like the contrast of the white lilies against the Memorial. It's a sad story and you captured it well. It is a perfect subject for black and white. Well done.

99 Jul 22 Comment Hi Linda,
Good story. Perfectly composed. Great DOF. The flip improved the image. Sharp details throughout. Love the dramatic sky, but I would prefer the clouds to be a bit softer. Well done.

99 Jul 22 Comment Great capture, Michael. The dark, moody scene emits feelings of sadness. I like the reflections in the water and the faded trees in the background. The grain adds to the story. You did a fantastic job of clearing quite a bit of the fog leaving just enough. I do prefer the crop in the original image since the horizon is a little higher and further away from the middle of the frame. Nicely done. Jul 4th
99 Jul 22 Reply Thank you for your kind comments Michael. I am unable to send you the sooc image, because I shoot raw and the file is too large. You mention that you would like to see a portrait crop on the image. Could you explain? Looking at the original there is not much to crop. Jul 4th
99 Jul 22 Reply Hi Michael,
The background is parchment paper taped on foam board.
