19 May 22 Comment Hi Norm,
Breathtaking! The fountain, colors, and trees create a perfect peaceful, calming image. Your choice of the sky adds the finishing touch. I would frame it and hang on my wall. Love it.

19 May 22 Comment Hi Stan,
The red/orange color against the blue sky creates a strong impact. Your perspective draws my eye up to the Red Rocks and gives the subject a powerful presence in the frame. Sharp details and good DOF. Nice texture on the rocks and foreground. Well done indeed.

19 May 22 Comment Hi John,
Nice landscape composition. Good DOF. Sharp details. Great lines and texture throughout. Black and white worked well. I agree with Stan in that it needs more contrast, and the left stone shouldn't intersect with the top of the hills. So I tried a few edits. I cloned the area behind the rock and added a little height to the hill behind. Then I added more contrast applying a Tonal Contrast filter from the Nik Collection.

19 May 22 Comment Hi Harriet,
Dr Doolittle posed nicely for his portrait. I like everything about this composition. The grain, sepia tone, and frame adds the finishing touch. The sky adds impact.

63 May 22 Comment Hi Neal,
Nice composite image. The vibrant colors surrounding and framing your grandson adds impact. Perhaps I would darken or tone down the bright area below his feet.

63 May 22 Comment Hi Priscilla,
Nice still life image. Good story of a miniature family. The color of the dried flowers is echoed in the mother's clothing, daughter's bow, and the father's tie. The background also has hints of the color. The color palette throughout the image is pleasing. If you do make changes in your setup I would move the little girl slightly away from the flower allowing space between her bow and the leaf so they don't intersect. I think your image will do well in the competition.

63 May 22 Comment Hi Alane,
Beautiful red rose. The lighting and focus on the rose with the bokeh background worked well. Raindrops added the finishing touch. Nicely done.

63 May 22 Comment Hi Charles,
Incredible image. You presentation of table salt resembles a pile of crystals or diamonds. You managed to capture sharp detail on tiny grains of salt. Impressive. The reflections on the tabletop add interest. You cleaned up the extra bits in the original image perfectly. Well done. Your tips and techniques have been very helpful. Thank you for sharing.

63 May 22 Comment Hi Murphy,
Lovely image. Fushsia is one of my favorite flowers. Striking colors against the blurred green background with hints of pink. You captured sharp details on the flower. Nicely composed. I have one minor suggestion. I would prefer to see a little separation between the petal of the flower and the bud to its' left in order to give the fuschsia more breathing room. The image is very pleasing to my eye.

99 May 22 Reply Yes Randy the logic behind the "left to right" rule is that in many countries we read from left to right. I do follow the rule frequently. However, another rule of composition is "breaking the rules". Therefore, "right to left" should certainly be acceptable.

99 May 22 Comment Hi Randy,
You captured a very quiet and dark setting before the rush. I like it. Sharp details and good DOF. I flipped it horizontally to change the angle of the trains leading into the frame. I also straightened the horizon a bit. Gerard's suggestion to brighten the light in the window is a good idea because it draws my eye into the frame. I agree that cropping the bottom improved the image. You have a good eye finding interesting subjects that work well in black and white. Nicely done.

99 May 22 Comment Hi Michael,
Lovely. You presented this flower in a beautiful light. The sharp details of the flower against the soft, textured background worked well. The stem fading into the background creates a dreamy, calm effect. I love it.

99 May 22 Comment Hi Linda,
Nice composition. Interesting perspective. You captured nice details in the donkey's fur and grass. I love the sky. The light breaking through the dark clouds helps focus my eye on the donkey. Great image.

99 May 22 Comment Hi Peter,
Your compositing skills are exceptional. You created a story of yesteryear. After editing the small details noted by Gerard, Michael, and Randy you will have a perfect image. Nicely done.

99 May 22 Comment Hi Gerard,
This is a powerful image. You restored the towering strength of the old stacks. The black and white conversion and your editing techniques gave it a new life. Great perspective, good light, and the stacks provide strong lines and shapes. The dramatic sky adds impact. Well done indeed.

99 May 22 Reply Hi Randy,
I flipped it so I would have leading lines, (flower stems, left to right) into the frame.
