Hi Marian,
Your long exposure created beautiful, silky waterfalls. The shadows and colors in the foreground water add interest. The smoothness of the waterfalls against the textured greenery works well. It is a very peaceful scene. Nicely done. |

Hi Stan,
You created a warm, peaceful scene with the Light in the background. Nicely done. I also like the original Light image on it's own. |

I meant to write sunrise. The spectacular colors looked like a sunset too. |

Hi John,
Nice portrait. Good bokeh in the background. My only suggestion would be to straighten the image. |

Hi Harriet,
It's nice to meet another member of your family. Nicely composed. The fence provided a frame and leading lines to Luke's face and his beautiful coloring. The texture and shapes on the fence create interest. Nice sky. I do see his mane blowing in the wind but the tree behind him is close to the color of his mane so it is not clearly defined. The tree and his mane seem to blend with one another. I see his mane on the right more clearly against the green grass. Perhaps a different perspective would show his mane better. |

Hi Norm,
Magnificent! Strong impact. The colors in the sunset and the reflections in the water and rocks are beautiful. Nice composition. It was worth getting up early. It deserves to be framed. |

Hi Priscilla,
Based on your response, I think they are looking for multiple flowers or plantings presented as an abstract image. An abstract flower image would be to take a picture of a flower so that the viewer doesn't immediately see the flower (Macro, cropped, blurred, reflections, etc.). Here is a link to "Flower Abstract" photography.
https://expertphotography.com/abstract-flower-photography/.
Google "flower abstract photography" for more information.
Your image as presented is a very nice "Still Life" image and would not be considered an "Abstract" image.
I hope this helps. Looking forward to seeing your final image. Maybe you could submit it next month.
Post processing should be allowed. |

Hi Neal,
I am familiar with rose aphids. They are so tiny and yet you were able to capture their color with sharp details. Good composition using the leading line of the leaf. Nice texture on the leaf as well. Well done. |

Hi Alane,
You always manage to find different and interesting subjects. You captured sharp details on this little witch. Good texture on her skin and dress. My only suggestion would be to straighten the image. Very nice. |

Hi Pricilla,
The elements and colors in your image are lovely. I am not familiar with flower abstract arrangements so I hesitate to comment. Could you explain further what is required in the competition? |

Hi Murphy,
What a great idea for a macro image. You captured sharp details, great texture, and good depth of field. The lines, shapes, and lighting create a very interesting image. The different shades of brown add the finishing touch. Nicely done. Thank you for sharing your technique. |

Hi Leanne,
Interesting subject. Nice texture on the floats. Good leading line with the rope. The repeating shapes created by the floats works well. |

Hi Peter,
Thank you for your comments. I do have the focus shifting feature in my camera, and I use Helicon Focus to post process all my images in the stack. Helicon is post processing software used to stack your images instead of Photoshop or other third party programs. |

Hi Michael,
Well done. You created a nice composition using your long exposure settings. The contrast of the white mist against the dark rock formations and dark sea works well. The dark clouds add a finishing touch. Good texture on the rocks. |

Hi Linda,
Good composition. The farmer and horses draws my eye into the frame. I agree with everyone about toning down the highlights in the dust. I especially think if you changed it to a sepia tone as Michael suggested you would have a perfect nostalgic image. The image tells a good story and should be framed and hung on your wall. |

Hi Peter,
Nice image. The spider web image created by the shadows caught your eye, and you captured it well. The lines and shapes create interest. Black and white works well. I agree with Gerard's suggestion to crop it. However, I would crop out the entire window just above the arch leaving only the "shadowed image". Then I believe it would be an architectural abstract. Just my thoughts. |

Hi Gerard,
Nicely done. You succeeded in capturing great texture. Using the seed pods to create a background was a great idea. It worked well. You managed to use simple seed pods and create a great image. |

Hi Randy,
I never focus stacked in Photoshop. I've always used Helicon Focus. I did watch videos using Photoshop and I think Helicon is easier and faster. Helicon offers a free 30 day trial. The basic subscription is $30 year if you like it. It can be used as a plugin in Photoshop and Lightroom. |
