Thank you Stan for that information. I saturated the eye and beak. It's an improvement. I agree with you about a Nature competition. My initial thoughts were to just crop and sharpen. However, the saturated image is good for me to keep. |

Hi Marcela
You managed to capture a good story. Black and white is my choice. I like the light focused on his hands and pot. Well done. |

Thank you Stan. I agree I think I could crop a bit more on the right. It would improve the composition. |

Hi Norm,
I think black and white seems to have more impact. I like the composition as my eyes keep traveling down that lonely road. Its sharp and well exposed.

Hi John
This is a good story. The subject is sharp. The green blurred background complements the chicken. The moss in the foreground is a nice accent.

Hi Neal
This image jumps off the page. Its incredible. Your subject and composition are unique. The entire image is sharp. It must have been difficult to achieve sharp details in the filaments. This is a first place winner in any competition.

Hi Tom,
Thank you for you advice. I see now that its probably best to not to use a flash. Lights and reflectors will be my "go to" tools. |

Hi Nilan
This image is pleasing to my eye. You managed to capture sharp details through most of the image. The colors against the blurred background work well. The raindrops add texture. On my monitor it appears to be a bit noisy. Perhaps a lower ISO would help?

Hi Stuart
No I didn't use a reflector, but I did use a diffuser on the flash. It didn't help much. I have a lot to learn about flash. Thank you for your suggestions. 😊|

Hi Tom,
I see positive aspects in your image. First, you have the subject on top of a triangle, which is an important part of still life composition. Second, your lighting is good. I like the shadow on the left. It accents the subject. Third, I am able to see the texture in the aspirin. Fourth, the blue background works well with the white subjects. Overall, your new setup seems to work.

Hi Carol,
It's a lovely image. The orchid and pastel colors impart a peaceful mood. Your lighting allows me to see the texture on the flower. I like your use of the texture for the background. I use textures for background replacements myself.

Hi Stuart,
It's amazing how you were able to capture the detail on the tiny sugar balls at high magnification. You always manage to select an interesting subject.
