74 Jan 24 Comment Hi Ed,
Happy new year.
Thank you for sharing.
Yes, the small boat is a good measurement to sense of scale.
I like Stacey's cropping. It became more obvious and powerful in comparison purpose.
But good attempt.

Yes, this image could be edited differently with different preference.
I tried many times and arrived this version.
I wanted to present what I felt in shooting at the spot.

74 Jan 24 Comment Hi Melissa, Happy new year.
Thank you for sharing.
I would not be able to be patient as you and I would never try the subject like this. I act so slow in shooting.
So I admire your effort and patience. Also I applaud on capuring this in the right timing.
As for BW conversion, it looks a bit dull. I would try to increase the highlights and increase the contrast.
But nice try!

74 Jan 24 Comment Hi Ed, happy new year.
Thank you for sharing.
My first impression was "puzzled". There are 2 factors. One comes from my innocence of the subject. Second, instantly "why it is convered in BW?" - the question came to my mind.
Then, I read your desicription and looked at the original.
Also I googled "Dogwood Blossom" and found it is a beaufiful white folower. Now I understand that this is a bud of Dogwood Blossom and the meaning of title "renewal or life forms".
Now, here is my comments after understanding those;
1. Sharp focus and blurred the background is effective to focus to the main subject. Also choosing the dark (nearly back) background also effective to catch the main subject instantly.
2. If I compare the BW over original, the original looks cleaner and texture is well captured. But in BW looks rough in texture, maybe it is because of "increase of clarity" or "increase of contrast" in the post processing.
3. I hate to say this but the BW image does not link well with the title "renewal". The main subject is a bit too dark and it does not give me a hint of bright future for me. The original looks better and fits in the subject in my view.

74 Jan 24 Comment Hi Stacey, Happy new year.
Beautiful!
Definately I like much better than the color version.
The texture of skin, hair, and even freckles are well-presented. I especially like the pupil in the eyes.
I also like the overall tonality. I feel that It adds the hint of her bright future. The holizen over the window (dark city site over the bright sky) is well managed in post procerssing so nothing is distracting at the background.
Well done.

Appreciate it.
Thank you for pointing out inverse vignette. Will do another attempt to see what would it look like when backed off.

This is cropped version after took the ground out.

96 Jan 24 Comment Hi Gloria
Happy New year.
I have not encounter the scene like this, "double rainbow".
I envy you.
I understand what you are trying to do in the sky.
In my opinion, yes, the sky is a bit too wide without so much to see. I would crop 1/3 of the top and 1/3 from right.
By doing that the double rainbow would be emphasized more in the frame.
Thank you for sharing. This is a nice image to start the new year!

96 Jan 24 Comment Hi Robert,
I sat on the PC and looked through this image again.
This is purely my personal observation but here is what I found;
1. The bright area (in foreground) starting from left bottom to far right - for me it is too bright in right edige. I guess that's why my eyes are guided to frame out.
2. The mountain in upper left is a bit too bright. It become distruction for my eye. Along with that, the tree in the left edge bothers me. I guess compositionally there are two trees framing the main mountain nicely, but since the mountain on left and the tree on left edge take my focus away from the main subject.
3. The left bottom looks dead space and it is too wide for me.
Here is my attempt.
I also brighten up the shadow a bit in the two trees. It might help to bridge the foregound and the main subject, I thought.

96 Jan 24 Comment Hi Robert,
Happy new year.
Thank you for sharing. Another beautiful scene.
Let me answer to your questions.
1. I do not mind if one or two followers are blurred. The key big flowers are clean and sharp, that's really the minor thing for me. Maybe it is because of Topaz sharpen AI, but the key flowers look too tight and sharp.
2. Eye travel - first my eye catches the big white flowers in left bottom. They are excellent eye catcher! And my eye follow the light in the foreground and frame out in the mid right unfortunately. It is difficult to come back to the frame, although it has beautiful mountain peaks.
For me the image is divided into two, foreground and background. There is nothing bridge the two in eye travel.
Let me think if any idea to solve this.
