Thank you for replying. Please take care. You sometimes need to let thing go in my brief. Do not push yourself too hard to make it perfect. Just relax and enjoy time. |

Thanks, Viren.
I shot this scene not because of the light but the color and shapes, which made the fern outstanding. It is unlikely to get light only on fern in the nature world. My approach in the post processing was wrong and make the viewers confused. I realized now from others comments. |

Thank you, Gloria, for your kind words trying to answer to my questions. Apprecaite it. The shot is with @70mm f16 ISO 320 0.8sec. I did too much to birghten up the fern in post processing, which was my mistake. |

Thank you, Robert, for your comments and edit.
I realized now that I did overdone with post processing trying to make the fern outstanding and ruin the image.
I completely forgot about "subtlety" originally captured.
I need to go back and re-edit make it work.
Thank you for mentioning. |

Hi Robert,
Thank you for sharing.
I assume what you see in the print would be much different from the one on the screen. The pixcel/resolution is limited and seeing the image from monitor would be very different.
My comments here is from what I see on my monitor so it might not be relevant.
1. The leading line created by the edge of the mountain guides the eyes to the center of attention from the top left. Also the 2 big trees on right balance the frame well. It is well-structured in my view.
2. What I like about the image is the way fog is floating. What I like most is the few trees poking from the fog (upper center). It adds the story well.
3. I feel that the trees where the light hit looks glittery in my eye, maybe it is because of my monitor, maybe it is because of limited pixcels, maybe it is becuase of "over done in clearity" in post processing, or maybe becuase of the harsh light.
4. My eyes does not travel well in the area of 1/4 from left. Maybe it is because of nothing to see or it is becuase of the repetition.
5. Upper right corner - for me it is too birght without the details. I understand that the right comes from upper right. But it takes my sight away from the center of attentions.
But I like to see the print if any chance. I bet it looks different.

How are you feeling, Bob? Is it getting better? Hope you recover well soon.
Let me start to comment on the image this month.
1. What I like about the image is the wave below creates the leading line toward the lighthouse. I am not a big fan of placing the main subject in the center of the frame unless it has justifucations. I think you have a good leading line toward the center, so it is ok for me.
2. I feel that you increased the clarity too much. The texure of wave is too tight.
3. I am not sure what mask the sea shore of the background, is it haze or is it because of post-processing. If it looks clearer, then, the depth would have been well described.
4. The color overall does not look natural. Maybe it is because of over done of post processing. Here is what I would recommend; Once you have done the post processing, please create another version with de-saturate. Leave the image for a few days. After a few days, please compare the 2 versions on the screen. Please look at them from 1 or 2 meter away from the screen and choose which looks alike what you saw at the spot. The is what I always do. |

Hi Gloria,
Thank you for sharing.
This is a beautiful image! I like it a lot. You shot at the right timing.
I especially like the gradation of warm colors. It is well managed. As Robert mentioned, I would like to see a bit more details and texture of the clouds. Maybe you might want to open shadow a bit more.
I like to have 2 clouds in the frame personally. When I see it in thumbnails, shape of the cloud looks alike "Godzilla". And it looks like 2 Godzilla is marching in my eye.
The only thing missing in the image is something gives me a sense of scale.
Anything is fine, i.e. ship, boat, sea shore, rocks, etc. I prefer to see a bit more foreground. |
