I like the idea of this, the texture and lovely color. Can't argue with any of the previous comments. Certainly needs a little room at the top (pretty easy in Photoshop, if you're so inclined, since the background is plain) and would likely be stronger with the sides cropped. I'd also darken the bottom, I find the bright detail there a bit distracting. I wouldn't crop it from the bottom since I think it needs something to anchor it, but that detail is not as interesting as the upper parts, but my eye goes there since it's brighter. |

Thanks for the comments. I'm trying to analyze the image flip. I think I see what you mean, as we read the image (left to right), it may work better to keep the eye in the frame with the brighter wood on the right, pointing back to the center. |

I like the feel of this. I've wanted to visit and walk about Scotland for quite a while and this certainly doesn't do anything to change that. I like the composition, with a dominant diagonal of the hillside, the sheep drawing our eyes to the distant structures. The sky in the corner echos the field in the opposite corner. Maybe darken the lower left to accentuate that and avoid drawing our eye there and out of the frame? My first thought was about the sheeps' behinds too, would rather see their faces, of course, but it does have the feel of following those sheep home (from a sheepdog's eye view).

Nicely done, a great take on a fairly familiar subject. Those mountains are certainly magical and there's no better mountain lake. This is a tough location and hard to get a unique view with limited viewpoints. I'm always bothered a little by the foreground trees that chop up the lake, mountains and/or sky. You managed to frame and crop in a way to minimize that. I like the soft alpenglow on the peaks, very natural. I might darken the bright spot in the sky a bit as it draws my eye up there and out of the picture. |
