6 Jun 20 Comment Thanks for the comments, all helpful. This was actually a bit of a grab, I'd like to have been able to spend more time to work with the depth of focus, would have preferred the whole leaf in focus and the background highlights smaller and less prominent. I like their graphic nature but they do compete with the leaf for attention. Jun 14th
6 Jun 20 Comment I love that trio of young ones and watchful parent; all the heads are aligned! I agree that it might be better to see more of the adult, but otherwise the subject is nicely set off against the uncomplicated background and I like the overall composition. Jun 3rd
6 Jun 20 Comment Nicely done, Dick, an intimate portrait of these delicate flowers. Amazing that they survive the snow. Focus stacking worked well to keep plant sharp and I like the texture of the snow. I might want just a bit more room on the right, feels a little crowded, otherwise I like the composition. Jun 3rd

96 Jun 20 Comment Thanks for the comments Gerard. Interesting idea, I can see that it might be effective with certain images. Not sure this is one, but then I haven't really exercised it much. The color version is attached, not that much color to work with here. Can get a similar effect by dialing down the vibrance and/or saturation, no? Could also experiment with selective application of that. Not really the kind of thing I'm especially good at though.

As for the long-ish exposure, I did use a tripod. Might have liked a longer exposure to smooth out the water a bit more, but the light was bright enough that I was at the limit of aperture (f/22) and Iso (32, and no ND filter, alas). But since there's not that much water in this small portion of falls that is a small part of the overall image, I think the texture works pretty well. There were other rapids on the trail that I'd like to have gotten longer exposures.

96 Jun 20 Comment This is a nice, calm scene. I like the elevated point of view that provides an expansive view of the town, marina and more distant water and shore. The line of the main street is strong and leads us through the image. I find the blank sky above the horizon distracting rather than helpful though. I might do a panoramic crop to almost entirely remove the sky and help us focus on the other elements of the photo. Jun 7th
96 Jun 20 Comment A beautiful scene, well seen and rendered. I like the panoramic treatment. I agree with what you said about the foreground in the original, I don't find it interesting enough to include, and that large muddy-ish area competes unfavorably with the more interesting subject in the upper third of the frame. As for the color, I might have gone just a touch toward the blue which would add to the sense of depth in the clouds and distant mountain. I agree with Gerard that the trees are a bit too bright and saturated, they do pull your eye from the center of the frame and the misty mountain. But those are not showstoppers for me, again it's a great scene. Jun 6th
