Good for you Alison for being adventurous is in the cold. I bet your camera batteries didn't last long in the freezing weather! My suggestion would be to come in tighter, place (compose) your subject to the right a bit more. Perhaps open up the shadows a tiny bit. |

Hi Jaime. I love the graphic quality to your edited photo. I think it could work also work in a vertical format. Converting it to a black and white image works well. I sure wouldn't want to walk into that!

Hello Henry. I agree that this is a bit of a tight crop. It is tricky getting a fast enough shutter in low light for moving figures. I prefer the sharpness of the original. |

Hello Catherine. You certainly have a good eye for the abstract. You could have a show with some of the other abstracts you have shared and combined they would make an interesting series. The contrast between warm in color in the image is quite nice. The texture works well. Nice work. |

I love shadow shots! I really like how you processed it and fixed the exposure and color balance. Love the warmth in this image. The contrast between the symmetrical pavers and the organic shape of the shadow works very well. Super image! |

Hello Andrew! Nice exposure and the color balance is realistic. I would suggest when photographing something such as this that you use a large aperture such as 2.8 or perhaps 4.5, so that the background is blurred and doesn't distract from the main subject. Was there a particular reason you chose to crop the image so tight? When your main subject is so close to the edge it creates tension in the overall image. I think rather than crop so tight, it would be better to use the large aperture and that way the background is not distracting and there is some separation visually from foreground to background. You could also bracket the shot using different apertures and that way you could compare images to what works best. |
