Jane,
very nice capture, love the surreal colors in the sky it get a very calming effect...as john mentioned, watch your "edges".
it's best not to run off the frame, but still it happens...the
only thing I personally would have done is may flip the whole thing leaving more negative space on the left thus maybe keeping the viewers eye on the sitting couple and the star burst |

EMMY,
I HAVE TO BE HONEST, THIS ISN'T VERY GOOD, OTHER THAN YOU ACCOMPLISED THE BLURRY WINGS.
IN NATURE WE ALWAYS STRIVE TO GET THE EYE, CLEAR AND SHARP, HERE ALL WE HAVE ARE BUTT SHOTS,,AND TOO MANY OF THEM, ALTHOUGH YOU HAVE THE TWO TEALS, WE CAN BARLEY SEE THE EYE ON THEM, AND THERE'S TOO MUCH GOING ON AROUND THEM TO EVEN NOTICE THEM.
AT FIFTY FEET AWAY WITH A 400MM LENS YOU COULD JUST GET THE TEALS ONCE THE PLOVER FLY AWAY.
AS FAR AS THE NAMING OF BIRDS, THAT ALWAYS LEAVES ME WONDERING ALSO..
MAYBE NEXT TIME DISABLE THE FLASH AS IT WOULDN'T ADD MUCH AT THAT DISTANT, OR TIME OF DAY AS THE LIGHT SEEMS TO APPEAR COMING IN FROM THE RIGHT ,SOMETIMES IF A SUBJECT IS MORE BACKLIT THEN FLASHING THE FRONT HELPS IN YOUR EXPOSURE OF THE SUBJECT.
TRY RECAPTURING A SIMILAR IMAGE TIME AND TIME AGAIN, IT WILL HELP A LOT AS YOU TRY DIFFERENT SETTINGS TO ACCOMPLISH YOUR DESIRED EFFECT...
BUT ALWAYS TRY FOR THE EYES.....
SORRY DON'T MEAN TO BE SO ROUGH, BUT ITS A WAY TO LEARN...KEEP IT UP

NATURESHOP IS WHAT I DO WHENEVER POSSIBLE SO I CAN REMOVE OBJECTS I FIND DISTRACTING..I'VE BEEN KNOW TO WADE OUT IN THE SWAMPY WATERS OF FLORIDA TO GET RID OF DEAD BRANCHES OR LEAVES IN THE SCENE,,NOT TO REMOVE OR DAMAGE ANYTHING LIVING FOR THAT I WOULD USE PS ALSO NOT LEAVING FOOTPRINTS ION THE SCENE.
WITH A TRIPOD YOU COULD OF REDUCE THE F STOP CREATING A SOFTER BACKGROUND...AS IT IS A LITTLE BLURRY ANYWAY..ALTHOUGH THAT MAY NOT HAVE BEEN WHAT YOU WANTED..YOUR THE JUDGE AS ALWAYS |

DAMON,
TUFF SHOT TO CAPTURE, I HAVE A SIMILAR IMAGES I'VE WANTED TO GET FOR YEARS AND TRIED EARLY MORNINGS LATE EVENING MIDDAYS, AND STILL CAN'T GET IT THE WAY I SEE IT, SO GOOD FOR YOU.
YOUR RIGHT TO GET THE IMAGE WHILE YOU CAN, BUT Also right on the tripod and filter could make a big difference, can you go back?? I think I would if possible, you really have something there to work with.
two things to add I would "NATURESHOP" that branch on the left side it started to take my eye away from the main grass in the foreground, then I start looking for items hiding, not that there are any.
and it would be nice if you had another image where that one cloud has pasted the head of the grass just losses contrast there. Sorry for the nik pik but as I said to start a tuff shot to get..good job |
