Patrick,I'm not a fan of drastic editing, changing backgrounds and making all kind of changes, but with that said, as photo art this image works well, nice angle, good positioning of the subject, the change of background works very well, i'm sure the black didn't work as well.
and I admire the steady hand to shoot with those settings and no tripod, way to go!! |

Murphy, very interesting scene, like the diagonal line made up with the shaft coming through the middle of the two gears, like the guys commented the red is slightly distracting, cropping it out would bring that gear down in size (half a gear) like the one on the right, bringing better balance. but still a good eye to see the opportunity to capture this image.

David welcome to the group.
I think Patrick covered the area in need quite well, remember the eye goes to white and bright,so it will take us away from your subject.
would like to know the settings you used for this image. |

Priscilla, like the idea of pointing skyward, perhaps a little more angle upwards would more fitting the title.
liked that you cleaned up the bottom of the frame, need to refine your brush work more to avoid the over brushing of the red limb on the right.keep it up |

You must of had a lots of patients because you have shown that you have a lot of patients. 45 shots!! you can have a WOW just for that. I will have to look into that Helicon, I usually do it in PS.you really got all the details tack on.
even the paper, would have loved to see the entire Odonata, although not necessary. GREAT JOB THANKS |
