Lou, I like how you were trying to capture the whole scene, I like the others was not sure what was your focal point. I believe it was the cactus. If that is the case, I like how Gary changed the ratio, and now the focal point is the cactus, with the background enhancing the cactus to keep there and the to proceed to the far side. I as well think you did a good job in post on the sharpening and color. Nice Job! |

Trey, you did a great job on bringing to life, as Charles said, a dull and lifeless image. I love how you captured the leading lines into the photo, to draw me back, right from the start. Then the path small path leading me to the barn. I really enjoyed the rich tones along my journey to the barn. To me the pine trees are part of the photo, I actually thought the trees next to the barn, might have been the start of a Christmas tree farm. That is the nice thing about photography, it allows our mind to wonder and create. Very nice work. |

Very nice image, you captured the vastness of the entire valley. As a note, I tend to stray towards vibrant colors, so while your photo depicts what you most likely saw, I wonder what effect it would have if you were to add some vibrance or saturation to the blue in the sky, as was in the original, and green in the valley, to pull your eye to the other side of the crater. Just a thought. Again, a very nice and pleasing photo, nice work. |

Very nice image. On the fence on the cropping, if some of the sky would be cropped, ( I held a piece of paper on the sky) it seemed to pull me eye down more quickly to the barn, central focus of he photo. As I moved my way through the photo, I enjoyed the fences leading me in and out of the various areas of photo, so much more to see in addition to the photo. Very nice work! |

Rajani, I really love this photo! I love the feel, ethereal nature of the image, makes me want to be there. I can tell you put some time into the editing and it really paid off. I have read the other comments on the trees and have mixed feels if they should be in our out. I like them in, because they tend to hold me into the picture. Maybe you could soften the dark part of the branches on the tree on the right, specifically the dark ones from the edge of the picture. For the tree on the left, I wonder if you were to clone out the one branch that protrudes into the house, if it wouldn't open the photo up to direct your eye back to the green house, yet the tree keep you the picture and have your eye move further back in the photo. Very, Very nice work. |

Wow, this is my first comment on photos in our group. I will first apologize for not submitting since I joined, will post going forward and will provide comments. This is also my first critique of a photo. hope to get better as I go along. I like all the comments previously posted, that is how we learn and become better. I appears you put some time into editing the photo and it shows. Good job on clarity for holding for 4 sec! I like the composition, but I would loved to have seen more contrast better the blacks and whites, dodge and burn certain areas to bring my eye back into the photo. I agree with Sharon, selectively darkening some areas . Possibly the tree, if possible, at the bend in the river. to pull you back into the photo from the foreground. Overall nice work. |
